So would you want Gladiator to start at level 30 or Dark Knight to start at level 1?

Also, if this is just for the purposes of speed levelling I'm def not seeing the appeal. Levelling with a job helps you learn it, and like I said about SCH earlier basically getting handed a max level SCH just because I was focusing SMN made it really rough to learn and enjoy that class.
Levelling is fast enough in this game and there are enough ways to level. I don't see why you'd want a job you've never played to be at max.
    We don't need this.

I answered this one page back with another person asking the same question. I will update the original post to better reflect what's been discussed.

For people who already unlocked Dark Knight and maybe leveled it but Gladiator is level 29 or lower, Gladitor would be Raised to match the level of Dark Knight. These people are grandfathered in.

For people who are new, and reached the quest NPC for the Dark Knight Job, the quest can be done on any job, but Dark Knight will be tied to your Gladitator's level. Ergo, if you do it on a level 50 Gladiator, your Dark Knight will be level 50. If you have not touched Gladitaor and it's still level 1, then your Dark Knight will be level 1.

This is not for speed leveling particularly. Sure, people already play the game get the benefit *maybe* of a job being brought up to speed. This does consolidate the leveling process, where you only have 10 classes to level instead of 20 jobs. During which, you can play either of the 2 jobs through the leveling process. Speed leveling, is not an excuse, because Mogstation already sells potions that allow you completely bypass levels and content.

Leveling sure is fast if you play for hours on end. I've been between casual and hardcore on this game since 1.0 and still do not have everything close to maxed. The closest I could come to that was in ARR, but since level caps went up and up, it became more and more tedious to keep everything up. I have a life, but I want to enjoy more options too.
