Have a big imposing building or area that you have to fight your way though, to finally reach the end. Ice Crown Citadel and Ulduar were my two most favourite raid in WoW and they really immersed you into the world of Northrend. I loved how you had to fight your way to the next boss and once you got there, you had a sense of achivement. I really don't like how they throw one boss at you, right after another in Omega and Eden, as it feels like there was a sudden lack of imagination, which we all know is not the case with the FF14 team.
You can thank other players for this. Players in general do not want this in an MMO. Coil had small bits of this and people didn't want it so now we get what we get.

You got a study that corroborates both of those statements? Ridiculous. There is no way for you to know either of these things, and it's beyond reckless to post them on a public forum.

Pro-tip: When you say "players in general" or "people didn't want", just stop. You don't speak for the masses.

I can say from experience that most parties advertised "sac-pull" or "trash-skipping" in their messages, and hell, people even sold/asked for the checkpoints in coil to get past trash and the miniboss in T1. It was incredibly common.

Also, a study, really? It'sevents that happened 5-6 years ago in a game, where most advertising was still done in shouts. Party finder didn't exist, people didn't really use reddit. There's no proof left. It's also just as reckless to post that it didn't happen without proof.

You say that from your experience? That's called anecdotal evidence, which is reflective of your own, personal experience, and cannot be applied to anyone else (or, worse, even a game). Just because you experienced people asking to trash skip or sac pull, does not mean that is everyone's experience.

Yet, you would pronounce your own personal experience as the reason for a change. Please.

Post a study or metrics that corroborate the claim. If you do not, then you're just spreading misinformation.

Do you have a study showing otherwise?

Saying it's anecdotal evidence may be accurate sure. But there is no study that exists like I said. No one does studies on these things. You are just trying to get out of having to make a return argument. Did you have a different experience during Coil? Did you even raid when coil was a thing?

I've only been playing this game since early access for Stormblood, thanks to Playstation Access on YouTube doing a really detailed video about FF14 and Stormblood, so I still feel very much a noob player compared to most people on these forums and I have meet in game.

Over these past couple of years, I have noticed the odd post or comment about some of the Duties being nerfed, as people we up in arms about it being too difficult. Again, I honestly thought this was people over reacting, but it seems they were actually telling the truth?

One reason why I avoided doing a lot of the bigger duties ( 8 man upwards) is that I am always being embarrassed and/or ashamed of how poorly I am playing. Even though I now use a PC, I still use my Dual Shock 4, as I have a lot of spinal nerve damage and it's very painful for me to sit at my desk to play. Also, I take quite a large amounts of opiates, which is like having a fog in my head most of the time. The reason I bring this up, is I understand it is my own shortcomings that prevented me from beating some of the content and I would never have the gaul to demand they nerf stuff, just so it easy enough for me to do. So am I correct in thinking that your comment is about players wanting things spoon fed to them, rather than actually trying to beat the fight by improving?

Like I mentioned in my post you quoted, I always thought the claims people made about this sort of stuff happening, was typical forum over-reaction, but it seems I may have brushed it off too easily myself?

I am not very good with remembering names in general, so I don't understand what you are referring to when you mention "Coil had small bits of this...." Please could you go into a bit more depth on this for me?

People complain about a lot of things they find difficult to overcome be it dungeons in MMOs, other classes/characters in PvP settings. Sometimes it is founded on legitimate ground such as an equal level World of Warcraft Rogue being able stun lock and kill a Warrior or Paladin from full HP in PvP as an example, others are were just bad players not understanding how something worked or thought was too hard in the case of dungeons.

When people refer to Coil in the context of FFXIV, they are usually referring to the Binding Coil of Bahamut.

Thank you for replying , I never experienced Bahamut due to when I started FF14.

what i meant by "small bits" was the Coil has what you asked for

    you said

Binding Coil Turn 1 has it, Turn 3 is completely that. Second Coil Turn 1, 2 and 3 all have it. Alexander had a little bit too but Omega and Eden has completely gotten rid of any kind of trash before the boss. Omega has segments but they were all done only in Normal mode as part of the story and cut-out of the Duty Finder/Party Finder portion of the fights. i was not talking about the difficulty or players not wanting to improve. players want to get to what matters which is the boss fights.

also you can unsync Coil and do it by yourself or with a friend. not all of it is soloable even at 80 with some one-shot mechanics but you can still experience it with not too much difficulty.
