unfortunately this is widely accepted as to why ffxiv dies down quickly post expansion, pre-expansion people get hyped for story, job changes (not that they even really change much at all) and somewhat for some new fights.

They've accepted that this formulaic design is enough to keep the player base content which is what I honestly find to be the worst. FFXIV has never been about going beyond player's expectations with content, it's just about meeting them enough to not dissatisfy everyone.

Oh and of course tossing in some random content that nearly no one likes and gets quickly forgotten. (eureka etc)

There's no shortage of content. Some just have a habit of acting like there is just because what is on offer isn't custom tailored to their personal tastes and/or they have a huge amount of free time and the ability to rush through everything as quickly as possible. The crafting and gathering stuff alone offers a huge amount of content to engage with.

So I will play at the beginning of the expansion, and then at the end (when there is a boat load of content). MMOs are just too depressing when you can clear all the challenging content in one night.

As for mounts, bragging rights, that's for children, honestly. Never used a mount outside of the company chocobo, and people who go around bragging about a kill in a video game, eh, they probably have some mental issues they need to address, or at the very least they have some self-esteem issues.
    Finally...someone said it....

This thread made me get back decorating. Because once you get a house, you never run out of things to do.

If I say some things already mentioned by other, I apologise in advance. Also I'm going to mention WoW, so if you get triggered by Blizzard, best skip my post lol!

For me, Eden was just like the Omega Duties and while some of the fights were really fun, I felt disappointed on how they went about linking the boss fights. I really wish Square-Enix would use a similar formula to what Blizzard did for the "Wraith of the Lich King". Have a big imposing building or area that you have to fight your way though, to finally reach the end. Ice Crown Citadel and Ulduar were my two most favourite raid in WoW and they really immersed you into the world of Northrend. I loved how you had to fight your way to the next boss and once you got there, you had a sense of achivement. I really don't like how they throw one boss at you, right after another in Omega and Eden, as it feels like there was a sudden lack of imagination, which we all know is not the case with the FF14 team.

In the last few months, I have migrated from using a PS4-Pro, to a "gaming" PC I put together on a budget, which is more than able to have the graphics turned up a health step above my PS4-Pro's version. I also did this because I wanted to be able to use Discord with the FC when doing these Duties. After getting through 3 out 4 Bosses on Eden, I just went "Why did I even bother?" Everything else in this expansion has been of such a high calibre, that Eden comes across almost as an afterthought. That has left a really bitter taste in my mouth and now I've done the MSQ, it's now a case of grinding for tokens, to get better gear and with there only being a handful of lvl 80 dungeons, it's going to get pretty boring, pretty quickly.

Normally when I see these kinds of threads, I just roll my eyes and avoid it, as I typically don't concern myself with the larger size Duties or Raids. However this time, I have also gone through this content and now understand why people are upset about the endgame content.

You can thank other players for this. Players in general do not want this in an MMO. Coil had small bits of this and people didn't want it so now we get what we get.

You got a study that corroborates both of those statements? Ridiculous. There is no way for you to know either of these things, and it's beyond reckless to post them on a public forum.

Pro-tip: When you say "players in general" or "people didn't want", just stop. You don't speak for the masses.

I can say from experience that most parties advertised "sac-pull" or "trash-skipping" in their messages, and hell, people even sold/asked for the checkpoints in coil to get past trash and the miniboss in T1. It was incredibly common.

Also, a study, really? It'sevents that happened 5-6 years ago in a game, where most advertising was still done in shouts. Party finder didn't exist, people didn't really use reddit. There's no proof left. It's also just as reckless to post that it didn't happen without proof.

You say that from your experience? That's called anecdotal evidence, which is reflective of your own, personal experience, and cannot be applied to anyone else (or, worse, even a game). Just because you experienced people asking to trash skip or sac pull, does not mean that is everyone's experience.

Yet, you would pronounce your own personal experience as the reason for a change. Please.

Post a study or metrics that corroborate the claim. If you do not, then you're just spreading misinformation.
