The game has to innovate if it wants to stay relevant. There are a lot of upcoming MMOs that grossly overshadow FFXIV in terms of netcode, mechanics and incorporating player feedback, so SE should address these issues at one point or another.

Unfortunately FFXIV has the remnants of the legacy spaghetti code of 1.0, and it's preventing the game from flourishing into what it could really be. For instance, how many times have we heard the server limitation excuse? Meanwhile you have titans like Amazon getting into the MMO scene and are able to pop servers anywhere in the world by snapping their fingers. How is SE going to compete against that?

It's great if you think that the game doesn't have to change, but you have to understand that people bring up these concerns not out of hatred or pettiness. They do it because they care about it and want to see it last for a long time. Square Enix hasn't been doing too well in listening to player feedback, at all. Poor customer support in NA, the housing system is a complete mess since ARR, the repetitiveness and copy-paste content we've had since forever, not letting you level-sync and play with your friends in Eureka, etc. Frankly I'm a little speechless that they don't incorporate player feedback any faster, because it seems that the game is bleeding subs pretty quickly.
