...but I was specifically referring to people who post nothing but negative comments about the game. When the posters in question have done that for years then suggesting that they try their luck elsewhere isn't an unreasonable suggestion.
76 pages of QQ over a pair of earrings that the majority of players didn't even know about until someone decided this event was somehow ruining their memories.
This is kind of amazing.

That's not really true. Evangelus is an ardent passionate notorious player who speak from his heart.
It's important to understand that French forums are completely different than the English ones in the way of expressing oneself, I'm gonna have a hard time to translate that, but it's a kiddy-good-natured-spirited atmosphere. In a sense one could think they're all early teenagers, they don't write their post in a scholastic way, and they speak like they're all childhood friends, so they use a specific semantic field full of raw feeling words.
That being said, most told Evangelus he could have find a better title, while they completely understand him, and know him enough to not really bother.
And it's worth noting, that in their topic, beside I think one person, everyone agree to say SE did a cheap move by handing those earrings this way.
No matter if they are 1.0 players, ARR players or more recent players, they agree it should have been at least replicas.
I wonder how many will wear these solely to troll salty 1.0 players to be honest. Yes, it is a suboptimal to do as I do agree that some things could stay exclusive and special for people who participated in a certain event even though I am generally opposed to timed exclusives in online games thanks to the bad taste they leave in many freemium games (there are two things that makes me quit F2P games, P2W PvP focus and timed exclusives), but I do think the overreaction is huge as it is simply an earring glamour item at this point.
Like, could they not simply have given away iLvl 1 lookalikes instead? Would have been a much smoother move to be fair.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows at least a handful of forum names that show up to loudly complain about every. single. thing. in the game. Literal clockwork, and you can predict their responses to a T. It's never "I love Final Fantasy/this game but this disappoints me and and this is how I want to see it improve" it's "this game is trash, uninspired, and worthless, the devs are literal idiots and I could program something better in my sleep [insert comment about parsing or raiding, probably]". I get that there's a time and a place for scrutiny and I am most definitely critical of several things going on with XIV at the moment, but there's a point at which, as Theodric says, you have to ask: if every single element of this game makes you sick, why are you still paying to play it? (The obvious answer is, of course, is that they want attention, but that's another matter for another day.)
And at least 5 of those pages are people making this exact comment. Good job guys!
I love it when people bring up screenshots or posts from people that are 6+ years old and then take it as the word of God like nothing ever changes.
Ya'll need a second Dalamud fall.
Oh wait...

I am french also and not European , I agree.
I personally couldn't care less about some stupid earring which you can barely see on your character anyway and no one else is going to notice. I'm more interested in what the event entails, from what i've been hearing it's going to be a lot of fun.
