Where is the promise that they won't release the earrings after 1.0? Where did they actually promise anything about this?

When they said the content was intended for 1.0 they likely referred to the boss, not the earrings. I seriously doubt they think a pair of earrings can clash with the story. But the presence of a npc who is dead before ARR launch certainly would. As for the earrings not being available in ARR, this is still true because they came during the SB expansion, not in any ARR patches.

I'm really starting to wonder whats hard about reading what they did say.

Are we really cherry picking that they mentioned ARR when ARR was the definition of everything after 1.0 shut down at the time? ARR wan't an expansion, it was a tagline for the relaunch of the game.

Which is only because now isn't then. ARR was the term covering everything post 1.0 when it was stated.

I'm late to the party, Not much on these forums. I played 1.0 and i got those earrings, Am i pissed about it? No, not really. They could have made new earrings, or a different rarity (color of the item) to differentiate the 2. But if it's about the "Show off" aspect then you have the Sixth Astral Era achievements to prove what you did in 1.0. These earrings were gathering dust in the armoire for 5 years so i couldn't care less.

I'm not belittling anyone. I've been following this thread for a few days now and it's gone from mild irritation on both sides to people being nasty gremlins to each other. Over a collection of freaking PIXELS. Yes, sentimental value etc. on them for some people, good on them for that. But that still doesn't excuse the behaviour of the nasty ones.

SE hasn't broken anything. They could say their skybox isn't really blue but celeste green and people would scream "broken promises!!!!" let's be real here. They've said repeatedly that they didn't think the game would last nor that it would be so popular, and likely never expected to get past ARR. So yes, them saying "it won't be in ARR" is still correct, even with the pedantic "we're in SB now" because we are. The game is not called "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn: Stormblood". ARR is, essentially, an xpac title as the game follows "Final Famtasy XIV: Heavensward" and now Stormblood.

Point still stands: go outside. Get some air. Calm down.

The White Raven earrings are a reward for a specific group of players. It is their badge of honor for completing a specific challenge in 1.0. They should not be handed out like candy.

They should be earned.

It's probably way too late now but the Rising reward should be altered in some way to reflect that it is not the original White Raven earrings from 1.0.

That sentence is why I say "who cares." I worked with a group of friends to earn my/our clear of the Binding Coils. We got our gear, title, etc. Skip a few years later and people are unsyncing it either for story purposes, desynthing purposes or material acquisition purposes. Heck, the Replica gear is more valuable than the Coil gear because they can be dyed. Why is the time and effort of ARR-SB players less important than 1.0 players?

I think the players who are complaining about this event also have a problem with unsyncing content. Unsynced is one of the worst and most poorly handled systems in the game currently.

Definitely too late. If they were going to make changes, it needed to be done before any new players had acquired the earrings, because the game can’t see the difference. Any alterations to the item now would affect new and old players equally.
