Especially since we seem to enjoy and appreciate the game a lot more than those who only seem to want the developers to treat them as celebrities because of something minor that happened five years ago...

Ok, that is maybe being a bit harsh - in general, people tend to be this emotional because they care. So I wouldn't go as far as claiming they appreciate the game less...
And for the Legacy Players... They are kinda celebrated with this event, and it cannot be taken from you, but everything has been stated before.

Anyway, only around since 2.0, though I can understand the salt and both sides, we all should calm down. Personally I am happy to get the earrings bc I think they look rad, but I salute all those that went through all the effort to get them.

This is absurd I wish I had been given 33% off my sub for the last 5-1/2 years and find something miniscule to complain about. It’s glamour....and it’s extremely tiny, most people will not even notice it. I understand you work hard for something and you don’t want it given out for free but face the facts that most of what we have done in this game let alone the previous has been made less impactful/important over time. Sorry it upsets some of you, would you rather lose your discount on your sub??? I’m sure they can do that in the future....complain about something important idk, the state of the game and content???

People are acting like everything the devs say is set in stone and will never change. You're forgetting that it's their house, and their rules. It's their game, their property.

Companies promise things ALL THE TIME. They either fail to deliver, deliver less than expected, or they actually keep their promise. Sometimes they deliver MORE than expected. They have the right to change things because they own this game. They could decide tomorrow to invalidate everything and make Ultimate Coil weapons available to the masses.

It is their decision and theirs alone.

Now with that kind of power in decision-making, they also have to face the consequences. Consistently fail to deliver and customers will leave. Consistently over-deliver and more will come (but at the cost of time/resources). It's very much a delicate balancing act. The 1.x players that got the original earrings AND are still here today on that same character are probably a fraction of a fraction of a percentage. The devs have likely decided that it might ruffle their feathers a bit to see this item return, but they are such a small minority that upsetting this tiny apple cart is not that big of a deal.

It's kind of like the outrage that people had back when Diadem 2.0 came out and they could (rarely) get weapons better than savage at the time. But again, the chances that this would happen were astronomical, and people still lost their minds because of the POTENTIAL that heaven forbid, someone get an equivalent weapon that's better than the one they worked for. Nevermind that it's again a fraction of a fraction of a percentage. They blew it way out of proportion.

Of course, we don't know what exactly the Rising event holds yet. It may be the exact same kind of fight, synced and otherwise similar to the original in every feasible way. As the original no longer exists, this is likely the closest they could come to replicating it

This year's Rising event, and thereby the earrings, I think were meant to help bridge the gap between the legacy and current players. They may have even promised at the time that these items would never be available again -- but do you think they even saw a future for this game five years from then? It bounced back with RESOUNDING success. THAT probably was NOT expected. I would hope that the earrings aren't just given out for free and are earned in a similar fashion, but again, their decision.

I just think a lot of people are losing their minds over something that hasn't even happened yet. If those earrings were just tossed out like candy at a parade then yes, I could see why that would be upsetting. But again, that's a fight from five years ago. With that kind of logic, I should vehemently protest machinist being in this game because I beat Contra without the Konami code 30 years ago :P

That's a really twisted perception to make up to bring down someone in a game. I've yet to see anyone "lord" them over someone. You keep bringing up these examples that don't exist. Someone else having them isn't slighting someone else. Enjoy what you have and get over the envy, this isn't keeping up with the joneses.

If you're using a piece of glamour from five years ago as a means to justify some kind of superiority that you're better than the person who doesn't have them or that you're still better than the people who possibly gets them now, then yes quite frankly, you are "lording" or holding something trivial over another person's head for no reason other than an ego booster.

Situations such as those do actually exist, it's possible that you're either just turning a blind eye towards it or you're not around to see it, whatever the case that it may be. If you take a look within the Novice Network and see some of the kinds of mentors talking to newbies, you'll see prime examples of that sort of mentality. Maybe not relating towards a useless glamour item, but in the idea and concept of skills or longevity with playing the game. It's the ugly side of human nature.

Give something special towards another person, and 9/10 chances, they'll take it one step too far and turn it into some kind of superiority complex over others. Basically, it is "lording" or hanging something over another person's head for nothing more than the satisfaction of yourself. This community can be full of people like that, they're not hard to find, just easy to ignore essentially.

You're getting the tail end of an argument with another poster who vehemently would defend and could not, literally, take the idea that other people were disagreeing with their behavior and calling it wrong because that 1.0 player believes that no one else but him deserves those earrings. He/she could not deal with the fact that their sort of mentality could be taken as wrong against newer players. They were literally trying to keep up with the Jones's.

It's not really fair to say that the people getting those earrings for lesser means, when they didn't even know the existence of 1.0 or even remembered that fight, were envious. You can't be envious over something you didn't care to know about five years prior, and possibly still don't care about it in the present. It's also not fair to say that those people don't deserve the earrings either simply out of a selfish mentality that you don't want them to have what you have and nothing else, when it's impossible for anyone to travel back in time five years ago at this point.

I honestly don't know what else players can say here. The devs were caught being lazy and dishonest. last time I checked, that can affect the trust between the parties involved in the promise in the first place. Legacy players have every right to be angry that the devs said one thing because they needed their compliance and did another now that they are successful.

Where exactly is the betrayal? Please post where they said this item will only be for people who obtained it in 1.0 and we will never distribute the item ever again. It seems like you are drawing your own narrative.

Again, as I said. He never said they would never be obtainable. He said they were not obtainable at the time. Nothing said here contradicts them coming out now. Again, you are intentionally taking it out of context to fit your narrative.

Something can be unobtainable one day and obtainable the next. Unless he said we are forever never releasing these to the public ever, then you don't have a case to fall back on.

The context of that thread is pretty clearly asking if the white ravens would only ever be obtainable in 1.0, and the response in context is yes. Pretending like ARR doesn't mean everything after 1.0 or that 'unobtainable' is a completely meaningless word is actually taking things out of context.

Also it's not my narrative, I never got them in 1.0 so it doesn't bother me that much. They're kinda ugly so I'll probably just shove them in my armoire and forget about them.
