I actually meant drop in his trial, which was added around(or exactly at?) the same time that Sleipnir was added to the cash shop. Or did people already forget it exists because it was dead on arrival?Honestly, seeing as to how Ixion was handled at the release of Stormblood...? I would definitely not want to see the massive train wreck that would have ensued with Odin's special fate in ARR if they handled the Sleipnir mount in the same fashion from the very beginning instead of adding it to the cash shop or Trial.
Death and DC's everywhere.....and none were done by the Zantetsuken.
However, adding Sleipnir would have greatly given the playerbase more of an incentive to pursue Odin's fate rather than a collective "Oh? Odin's up? Oh you silly Odin, quit chucking all of that wood." *and then everyone just does their own thing*

I did mention the trial, at least I added it in since my fingers don't always type what I'm thinking outright. I was trying to be humorous/light-hearted with the special fate commentary seeing as to how it was implemented into Stormblood and the overwhelming issues with it, how plenty of servers had seas of dead people around Ixion. But, I guess the humor flew over people's heads...or just took my comment way too seriously.People were speculating that his trial would have dropped Sleipnir. I was just saying it would have been more likely that it would have dropped a reskin of the other ARR ponies. Of course, his trial only has 1 mode compared to the other ARR primals, which have 2 or 3 (4-man story for Ifrit/Titan/Garuda, story/“hard mode” for Levi/Ramuh/Shiva, and Extreme). Considering that the story/“hard modes” never dropped mounts, it doesn’t really surprise me that Odin’s Trial didn’t have one. Now, if there had been an Odin (Extreme), then yeah, I could probably understand a bit more. Still think it would have probably been a reskin though, rather than the Sleipnir we have now.
Well, the only serious part was the idea that adding the mount to the fate would have given the players more of a reason to pursue him, but the same can be said for the Trial as well then if that were also the case.

Or they were just answering pragmatically? /shrugI did mention the trial, at least I added it in since my fingers don't always type what I'm thinking outright. I only answered because you quoted me. Your post did mention the trial, yes, but it spoke mostly of the FATE. Which is fine; I was just saying that people never really speculated about it being added to the FATE, but to his trial when it was introduced.
Odin’s FATE had similar DC issues when it was first introduced. Ixion’s and Foxy Lady’s DC problems aren’t really new. The servers themselves just cannot handle that many people loading into one instance at the same time (because they’re massively outdated, I think).
I’m not sure about other servers, but people still show up for Odin on mine, and he (and all other large region FATEs) are still called out in my Hunt LS. I’ve even managed to be his killer and have him show up with my character’s name the next time he spawned. Sadly, I wasn’t online at the time to get a screenshot of that epicness.Well, the only serious part was the idea that adding the mount to the fate would have given the players more of a reason to pursue him, but the same can be said for the Trial as well then if that were also the case.
I also want to add that I believe it has been said by the developers that they do not design content with any sort of longevity in mind—so things like these open-world FATEs (which, really, fix your servers before making something that will prompt hundreds of people to flood to the same area, and cause instability/overload) and even content like Eureka and the PvP modes will all die eventually. Kind of sad, really. They’re designed to be super busy during their relevant lifecycle, and then fade into obscurity (or outright die).

I don't remember exactly when the mogstation went up, but the mog station was presented at the first fanfest which was slightly before 2.4 dropped if memory serves me right and sleipnir was promoted as the first mount on the shop in that occasion
