Cash shop pricing is getting a bit much...

So I see they released the new Nezha set in the mog station. The thing is though, if I wanted the mount, the barding, and one gender's outfit, that's $52! The clothes are also gender locked, so to have sets for both genders, that would push the price to $70. The mount is account wide, but everything else isn't.

I mean, for the price of the bundle of items, I can go out and buy FF 12, the Zodiac Age. If I don't buy the barding, I could go out and buy Secret of Mana. I know items might have been priced like this recently, but just looking at them altogether gave one huge sticker shock. I feel a little bit like I'm being priced out of the game some; yeah its optional, but I'm not sure why a bundle of optional items should cost more than a finished, retail AAA game. I mean, those items are probably double the cost of an expansion's entire digital soundtrack on itunes.

I just think you may want to be careful about prices. I don't mean slash everything very low, but maybe run sales more frequently or discount older items a bit after a period of time. I 'll drop money on the occasional fantasia, but it's getting pretty expensive to buy stuff in any real amount.

Yeah that was a major turn off for me too. I might get one item today but the rest I'll wait on for a sale. I get that it's because it's exclusive promo thingamabob (why does my browser acknowledge that's a word jfc) but it still hurts. I want the barding too because it's cute but I think I'll pass on that one. Sticking to getting the guy outfit for my main and the mount maybe, but not right now, most like.

Note that mounts always been in this price range. I remember spending like €25? for that moogle mount and 24 for odin mount back in ARR.

For how long though? They are phasing out account wide items on physical items. Its only a matter of time before mogstation follows suit.

For reference Stormblood Art Book and Eorzean Symphony were not account wide, while every previous items was.


The real issue is why isnt everything account wide? Their answer is 1.0 limitations but they give no indication of fixing it or overhauling it.

You make sets too high though, you start entering "justify this purchase mode" in people's minds. And increasingly there's a LOT of content like this in mog; you can drop hundreds of dollars on cosmetics like this easy.

They're the same price as any other glamour or mount there has ever beene though? So I don't get your title

"stay current". Dangerous to set "all glamours" available as current in your head. That kind of thinking will cost you money. Just look at it and as yourself what you'll actually use.

We were told "It's optional, you don't need it." This argument can be applied to anything in the cash shop. $1 was out of our price range of justifiable and we were told to deal with it. You're telling people to roll over and pay 24 dollars for a mount that's just fire wheels on your feet? Grow a back bone. This is a paid monthly game. Its not free to play. If it were free to play it'd make more sense for these prices. I buy the game and pay monthly for it. 18 dollars is not worth the price. We make them money and we are actually being reasonable about it. If you dont feel the same thats completely fine but dont tell someone to suck it up. Consumers are allowed to voice distaste in pricing for increase cash shop prices.

No, I'm telling them they don't have to buy it. The same way I was told I don't need something that costs $1 when I initially spoke out against the cash shop.

If they aren't willing to pay the price, they aren't the target demographic.

This is disingenuous. You can criticise the price of something without being against the practice itself. I, personally, find movie theaters grossly overpriced, thus I don't go often. I still like them though. In that same sense, I have no issue with the Cash Shop as a concept. That doesn't mean I agree with everything it does or the prices set.
