I agree with Stigmar. If you don't like the topic do you really need to tell him not to start discussion? That's what this forum is for and will be filled with discussion of things you and me might not like.

Because you can sell extra stuff on the MB and generate more gil. I do just enough gathering and crafting to warrant an extra retainer. The extra storage space for ingredients and glamour gear is nice as well.

So biggest reason is hoarding again. Because you can generate enough income with 2 retainers.

Squeenix is greedy and will add anything they think people are dumb enough to buy. It's working for them so far isn't it?

Also I'm one dumb enough to have 6 retainers.

That has nothing to do with greed. SE is a company who has to generate as much money as possible and they don't force you to buy the stuff, hell its not even close to necessary to buy a single thing extra in the mogstation.

But it doesn't matter what SE does people like you will always call them out for beeing greedy. I would really love to see how you lead a company like that...well better not.

Not really? you're limited to 40 slots with two retainers, the other 6 provide a whole 120 extra slots, you won't generate even remotely close to the same income with 40 slots as someone with 160 slots.

Then you have 1 hour ventures (not quick), depending on you server economy (some mats can sell up to 5k) you can generate around 50k per hour per retainer, so while a regular players gets 100k an hour, someone with maxed retainers would get 400k an hour, millions per day.

Thank you! You're 100% right about that. I'd give it all away to the first lalafell who did something adorable in front of me. Or to one of my friends if they wanted it. Sorry, I know you were trying to insult me but it really made me feel good to know that I don't come across as a greedy company leader. You can try insults all you like, but imo, a cash shop that sells outfits/mounts/potions for ridiculously high prices as well as has a subscription is greedy.

The items sold don't give anyone an advantage over another so I'm ok with it...

Oh, look at that. While we're at it, why don't we go ahead and point out the fact that the entire game is optional. Hmm, guess we don't need the forums for anything now, do we?

Now that the sarcasm is over, let's be serious. When people make a suggestion like this, it's because they see opportunities to improve their enjoyment of the game. I bet the group of people find find more enjoyment in glamours and decorating houses is much larger than the group of people who find enjoyment in end-game raiding. With that in mind, doesn't it seem a little bit unfair that the larger group is paying "optional" fees for content that ultimately helps fund the "free" content that the smaller group enjoys? What if SE started charging $5 for each attempt at unending coil instead of charging for glamours/dyes in the mog station? After all, why are 95% of the people paying for content that only about 5% are even getting a shot at? Why not make the 5% pay for what they enjoy?

Of course, that's not going to happen. I don't know why this is, but casual players tend to also be casual with their wallets. Granted, I've heard of HC raiders spending tons on buying gil from RMT to support buying all the gear/consumables they need for bleeding-edge raiding. Too bad it's all done out of sight of the ToS or maybe there'd be some hard statistics on how much raiders pay to win (or not). Maybe if that admission fee also came with stuff to actually help with raiding that HC raiders would find the arrangement acceptable (as they'd no longer need to violate ToS to buy supplies), but then it'd just make more sense to sell actual gear and stuff through the Mog station and not bother charging admission fees because we all know the admission fee would then be that you bought your gear off of the Mog station to raid on day 1 (because no bleeding-edge raiding teams going to want their team using anything less than the best for gear/consumables). Oh wait... now I'm advocating for true pay to win? I suppose that's what people actually want (and why we can't ever shake the bane of RMT advertising).

Anyone who crafts and gathers knows how valuable a retainer jump potion can be. I don't think it's quite pay to win though. Your retainer is still matched by your class/job levels. If you have a gathering retainer, you still need to have physically gathered a specific item before your retainer can retrieve it. As far as I know, the jump potion doesn't skip any of these requirements, please correct me if I'm wrong. So, you need to be the appropriate level to gain the full benefit.

Pay-to-Win has always meant (as I understood) that you are purchasing a service that gives you an advantage over other players that would be otherwise unobtainable. These would be powerful items or stat bonuses that are either greater than or equal to the non-microtransaction methods. If items like Lost Allagan Twine or Glaze was added to the Mogstation, then yea, hello pay-to-win.
