It is a HUGE pet peeve of mine to not make sure the new player is aware of the mechanics of the boss fights, especially if I am that new player running as healer.

So it is a peeve when it happens to you. But you disregard that other people may be peeved by you being lazy?
Most mechanics in dungeons are rather transparent to figure out on the fly. If you lack confidence in your own ability to do this, there is a wiki for you to prepare yourself. It is not the groups job to educate you. It is a situation you choose for yourself. I am not saying you must research to do dungeons. I am simply saying not to expect others to do the research for you if you are not skilled enough to react to the common mechanics on your own without a walkthrough.
