I think they're pointing out that if you're overhealing , why aren't you just spamming dps spells instead? Both are equally boring at times, but I would argue casting Stone III a bunch is more engaging than healing nothing because at least you are effecting a bar outside your own MP.

Because he is well aware that overhealing will rip hate from the tank. While less than optimal play, and not something I would do myself, I get it and I've seen other healers do it, especially in lower level content where things are less punishing. He needs to heal to feel engaged.

I DPS as healer all the time as well, but it is less engaging. It is less satisfying. What is satisfying is saving a player or group from almost certain doom, and/or finding that small window to rezz a fallen player. We WANT TO HEAL, and I don't think I can put it any more simply than that. DPSing 75-90% of the time is not what we signed up for, but we do it because we operate under the ABC rule. You will find healers like us in the worst f**king instances out there.

My confession tonight is me. I really enjoy healing in mmos, and I still find this enjoyment despite some of the drawbacks of the role. The rewards far outweigh them, but the heaviest of those burdens that makes the rewards harder to work for is taking too much to heart. I am so quick to point the finger at myself when runs go bad. I see multiple health bars at zero while I am still standing, and can't help but feel I could have done more to prevent it. Sometimes I can save the whole thing. Sometimes I can't. Either way, sleep doesn't come easy later that night. And the next day I go back to crafting/gathering/gardening/questing until I feel up for healing again.

Sometimes I think I queue in DF by myself for the most hated instances looking for this like some kind of masochist. I honestly think that while I don't intentionally make things go wrong, I secretly hope they do, so I choose the instances where this is most likely to happen. One of the things I am looking forward to with finally getting into 3.x content, is experiencing the instances everyone hates. I hate that I want to join the raid group of the person who calls me out.

The commendations for preventing wipes is equally gratifying, but always short-lived. I don't want, to want for things to go bad to get an enjoyable experience. How effed up is that?

was doing A9 while back and quite a few people were low on TP. so I, the AST, decided to try and see how an aoe spire would do.......it's literally the worst thing i have ever done with a spire. Well i know now i guess, although enhanced ewer/spire is amazing!

As a scholar I just never ever use a healing spell, letting Eos do the job while I dps and it work perfectly fine....except when I forget I decided to play WHM on the run ^^"

So I took off all my gear except my weapon. Needless to say everyone died, party complained, I told them not to whine about my poor gear.

Needless to say I got kicked, but I was laughing until the next queue.
I really, really want to meet you in a dungeon ! xD

This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.

My confession of the day is that it kind of enrages me when I play DPS for a change and witness the healer allowing party members to die in completely normal and manageable situations.

Sometimes the healer acknowledges that they made a mistake and are learning the role, and I'm immediately empathetic. However, sometimes they are just plain bad with no obvious reason, and I bite my proverbial tongue so as not to prolong the pain longer than necessary with an argument about their badness.

I run into this a lot in PoD where even players who obviously play lvl 60 healers outside of PoD seem to have no clue how to function. They either tunnel vision DPS or overheal like crazy, not having gotten the memo that it is entirely possible to walk and chew gum simultaneously.

My confession is that I now main DPS because I feel strange filling every materia slot with Accuracy as a healer >_<.

I wish accuracy wasn't such an issue for healers in raids.

I saw someone using {Swiftcast} + {Aero} and I liked it, I told myself I will be doing that if I ever going to get the swiftcast action, witnessing such event brings lots of bad karma, now I must attone for my sin.

I was doing Garuda Ex in Duty Finder, and the other whm was new, kept dying and causing problems with medica 2 agro. I let him stay dead for the remainder of the fight until we won and just told him I never learned swiftcast. lol

Same thing happened to me in a recent Titan EX run. The WHM just could not stay on her feet, and continued rezzes was only hurting the group. She was new, and did well up until the final phase as most do. She apologized after, and I told her it was perfectly alright, and let her know that no one has killed me more in this game than bloody Titan.

You shouldn't have to make an excuse like that though. Martyrdom as a healer is highly respectable, but certainly not required. Still though, huge e-highfive for that.
