Is ff 14. Too feminine?

One of my friends actually refuses to play the game because it's too feminine.

One day a person randomly messaged me during crystal tower days and told me I look like a [gay slur].

I appreciate game armor often is heavily influenced by the Amano style, but I do think there is perhaps too much catering, not to a effeminate style, but to the "I'm a guy and want to dress up as a girl in color-coordinated knee-high socks, show my t&a, and have rabbit ears" person. There isn't anything inherently wrong with that, but sometimes it's annoying.

To respond to some of the previous posts regarding having effeminate tank gear; while I recognize this is a fantasy, you probably shouldn't have armor exposing your lungs, heart, or jug and femoral arteries if you're sword combat. As a bard, it's fair to expect that you're going to have decorative clothing.
