    XI had a ton of arbitrary lockouts.

    Can't do Dynamis more than a couple times a week.
    Can't do Assaults without ID Tags (you only get one a day and can only hold a max of five)
    Can't finish certain quests until Japanese Midnight.
    Can't catch more than 200 fish a day.
    Can't upgrade your campaign medal for five days.
    Can't do Salvage more than once a day.
    Can't do Limbus more than once a day.
    Can't reobtain certain key items until a certain amount of time has passed.

    You get the idea.

    Some of these things eventually changed, but they were still like that for a *really* long time, and changing them did nothing to revitalize the game.

    If I remember correctly, you could switch classes and progress on another class until it refreshed. Current system locks out all jobs at the same time.

    I would be happier if the lockouts were by job and not a single lockout. Not sure how they could manage it for tomestones, but could work for savage and 24 man things

    Yes but the thread refreshes with every ...refresh. I alone am 20 views at least & most of these people are the same people. I'd be surprised if even 2000 or even 1000 different people have visited this thread. I'm not arguing against change I'm just seeing the reality of it happening or this thread even being truly relevant.

    Yeah, recent estimates have actually shown a pretty strong playerbase.

    This isn't the only place where I see more hardcore-style players complaining about the game being in a decline. But to see things from their perspective, they're probably confronted with the difficulty and frustration of trying to maintain raid statics in what could very well be a dwindling raiding scene.

    But if that's the case, then that just shows why content like Deep Dungeons is so important for the game's longevity. Most of the game's players aren't raiders and may never do the cutting-edge raids and extreme primals. This game needs content that's more in tune with its average player.

    I don't have the link, but someone on reddit mined Lodestone using various criteria to gauge active players. It was very reasonable. And yes, pretty sure those numbers included the JP and EU playerbases. But not China.

    Plus, people aren't saying they want XIV to become XI-2 (even though it kind of is, technically) or to go back to how it was during 1.x, they just want some of the depth and longevity that they felt those games had.

    Those were peak numbers on a Raid Patch launch, not average player base, it declined since then.

    Please don't compare comeback numbers with actual numbers.
