I mean, sure, it would be nice if caps could be stacked similar to leve allowances, because activity can be rather erratic. But missing a cap really doesn't matter outside of bleeding edge progression.
Most statics that are capable of succeeding would indeed remove someone who continuously falls behind because 1 person shouldnt hold back an entire team. Not saying I support that thought process but it is indeed something very real. it also locks you out of doing content using the PF when most will set it to what is currently considered realistic in terms of gear progression rather than the minimum for the duty as recommended.

I read the OP's post on page 1, but none of the 100 pages of replies. I just want to say as a long time player I fully understand where he is coming from. I routinely leave the game for 2 or 3 months at the time and come back for a while, only to fade away again. The problem is they continue to recycle the same content formula over and over. It feels like im doing the same thing today as I did when ARR launched. You run dungeons to get currency to buy gear to run raids to get currency to buy gear. The 24 man raid content is the same thing today as it was with crystal tower. These new raids are fun the first several times you run them, and then its all the same again. Everything revolves around a weekly reset of some kind, so you constantly feel like youre checking off a list of chores to complete. There is no fun or meaningful over world content, there is no content to do that is just pure fun, but not mindlessly repetitive. Give me a reason to go use my flying mount in the many zones. Why do I feel so detached from the world? Why do I feel like I can accomplish nearly everything from my housing district? There is no incentive to be in the world, to do anything outside of the chore list. Eventually that same repeated list of chores burns even the most loyal of fans out. I love a lot about the game, but the content formula is really stale at this point. Its all the same, just with different names. There is no excitement anymore about gearing up a new job - its the same currency gear that everyone else is wearing. I personally enjoyed diadem when it first came out - RNG style loot, always watching for that 210 drop with awesome rolls, and then it just died. They spent so much time im sure developing this new content, and then it dies in one patch cycle. Weve seen fun side attractions added like chocobo racing, verminion, and triple triad, but hardly anyone plays these. I feel like SE release so much content that just kinda falls flat with the player base. There is a disconnect somewhere.

3.35 launches tomorrow and SE will drop a new type of content in deep dungeon. Im glad to see a new type of content again. I hope it does share the same fate as diadem and essentially be dead 3 months from now. They must break this stale formula and shake the game up.

EDIT: I also would add many of the jobs feel like they are cut out of the same mold as well, with a few exceptions. I hope while they diversify content they will work to make each job feel unique and different. Not the same combo formula just with different animations and names.

Honestly the game feels like a job because of the sheer repetitiveness of the content; I felt like I was only doing the roulette a for a time out of obligation to get lore (which I don't even need or want because I'm not raiding anymore). There's nothing interesting to do in those smal bursts

What this game needs is a bigger reason to do the "work." My enjoyment of the game has honestly gone way up over the past couple of months, and really the only difference was that a group of us in my FC started a "busy adults weekly content static." We're staying out of savage, but we're all working toward beating the primals that were just way too difficult in PUGs. Took has five weeks (two months considering we missed a few weeks) to beat Thordan Ex. Just having that static to look forward to gives much more purpose to grinding out those tomes.

I've said repeatedly that this game's biggest problem is having an endgame scene that's out of touch with how the rest of the game is designed. If SE made true endgame more accessible to people who didn't have statics then grinding tomes would make much more sense in the "day in the life of" an Eorzean.

It feels like a job, everything is a chore, I have to meet quota's for the week otherwise ill fall behind. I've had to run weeping city about 20 times this week just to get gear for this week, which I still haven't got yet.
This right here is kind of my point.

I honestly don't think the developers ever intended for players to want to run the same piece of content 20 times per week. I think they made it more for people like me who usually just do it once or twice per week. And if I don't get a piece of gear from it, well /shrug. I cap lores anyway, so gear drops from 24-man raids are essentially just bonuses.

So this game clearly needs some new types of content that can make players like you happy. But SE should spend its resources on content that's accessible by people who don't have time to commit to statics -- that way, most of the game's playerbase would be happy! And I really believe that's what the Diadem was intended to do, except SE just completely dropped the ball.

You know something isn't right when more than one of the choices made by SE are the same...

I'm personally not doing it again after my first 50 floors. From a combination of having a level 1 MCH, mobs being exactly as I expected (1 or 2 telegraphs associated with each one) and the bleek, hallway-esq design, I'm already falling asleep after the 5th floor on each tier.

I haven't tried it yet, but what I have seen in feedback so far is just wave of mobs then a boss each 10th floor. It kind of goes back to what I was saying above that SE has all this moving space to add interesting things like how Nyzul Isle added puzzles, or do anything remotely interesting. I highly doubt the content will die out because there is incentive to do it, it is just a shame that SE is so scared of jumping out of their comfort zone.

Did you really expect the first 50 floors, intended to be leveling content for anyone over level 17, to be challenging or exciting? I don't think we'll see the interesting bits until the expanded floors are released.
