As much as I would love to see both RDM and BLU in the game, I think that conversation is just a poke at the community. Yoshi-P has mentioned RDM as a potential "hybrid" role that he would love to implement, but it would take a rework of the current duty finder and dungeons to add a potentially new role to the system. SAM has been a little more teased/discussed than either of those two.

The Chemist (薬師, Yakushi, lit. Dispenser or アイテム士, Aitemushi, lit. Item User), also known as an Alchemist (錬金術士, Renkinjutsushi or 精錬術士, Seirenjutsushi, lit. Refining Technician) or Salve-Maker, is a job that appears in various games in the series. Chemists are often characterized as wearing yellow robes.

The Dress Sphere in FFX-2 is called "Alchemist" with Chemist as one of its abilities.

The Current FFXIV alchemist is nothing like the mage-like ones from FFTA

The alchemist of FFXIV already makes medicines and having a battle job to "use" these items even if they were not consumed would not only just be confusing because of the names it would also potentially cause problems with the current DOH job, the market of potions and consumables, and requre an entire rebalancing of the item potencies and cooldowns. Do you really see that happening? Taking away that, all you're really left with is a healer that uses gun-like mechanics and mix. Things that can be transferred to a different healing job or potentially used to construct and entirely new class that differentiates itself from the use of items as the chemist has.

Even if we, say, call this new class a Herbalist, is mixing plants to make medicines and salves not doing the exact same thing as an alchemist is right now? Do we really need a DoH AND DoW job that do this sort of thing?

I'd much rather see something completely different like TP healing dancers. I just feel that Chemist and Alchemist are too similar not only in name but what they do.
