Personally, I view the Red Mage, Blue Mage, and Samurai thing from the Rising as just them joking and teasing with us and nothing concrete or binding... σwσ
I personally hope they don't give us all three at once and spread them out, seeing as that would be too obvious (I want some surprise when seeing the new jobs).

I was thinking of a constructive way to reply to this when a really whacked out odd ball idea popped into my head. What if, mind the silly names for sake of ease of explanation, the class had what amounts to a "syringe" gun. Certain weapon skills that would damage an enemy and extract an... well... "extract" from the mob (or perhaps even a party member?) Maybe this would be somewhat randomized with certain abilities being available all the time and certain ones not, but then these "extracts" could be mixed to create infusions which can then be injected into mobs or party members giving blood-for-blood esque effects (IE: you get something good in exchange for something bad.)

Maybe give a boss damage vs blunt up for monks at the cost of piercing damage (if you had no drg/mch/bard in the party) I dunno, just spewing an idea.

Not all that sure about balancing and practical application, but I like where this idea is going. Then again, it does sorta feel like it needs a sexy nurse outfit to go with it.

How about a DPS Job inspired by Lu bu from Dynasty Warriors and just call it Berserker.

    - Dancer (Healer): TP-based healer that uses physical damage, though MP would be used for some off-GCDs. Would use Striking gear. Damage type is classified as blunt. Cross classes are Monk and Rogue. (They don't get protect, instead they get very short off-GCD barriers that consume MP), along with an instant-cast Raise that has a 60 second CD. They get their own version of Cleric Stance too, but instead of switching INT/MND, it switches their dances from being able to target party members to heal/buff or targeting enemies to inflict damage/debuff.)

    - Geomancer (DPS - Caster-type): Focuses on two types of field manipulation, terrain-type (cast-on-field) and weather-type (stances and off-GCD abilities). Attacks have different effects and are aspected to different elements depending on what type of field the targets are standing on. Later skills take weather effects into account as well (and if pre-existing weather already exists, there'd be no need to use 'weather stances' unless you want different effects).

As in, an enemy standing in a summoned water field will be heavied and take damage over time, and additional attacks that depends on the field would trigger, say, watery eruptions and such. But that can also be combined with off-GCD abilities that depend on the weather - like summoning a blizzard to freeze the water field and stun enemies inside, dropping a lightning bolt that inflicts massive damage along with paralysis, or a gale to turn the field into a water spout that inflicts even more damage over time. A gale summoned over an icy field would shove enemies away (or gather them all in a single spot). A heat wave could turn an icy field back into a watery field along with inflicting slow, and ANOTHER heat wave could evaporate the field and lower enemy accuracy due to the steam. Rain over a grassy field sprouts vines that strikes at enemies to inflict malady/poison damage over time, and a heat wave attack would set the field on fire. Just general examples.

Have absolutely no idea what I want for tank. Hell, the devs could go for not even introducing a new tank (since they have a hard enough time balancing PLD/WAR/DRK as is) and go for two DPS instead. If two DPS, I'd like to see Red Mage, a melee class that uses Scouting gear but occasionally gets to convert DEX to INT/MND for their limited healing/offensive spells.

Garleans cannot use magic so who would keep a party of Garleans alive? Perhaps a job that is proficient in using certain items to buff and heal their party with the additional of being able to transmute(mix) items for even greater effects or to detriment the enemy. Garlemald is the perfect setting to introduce a job such as Salve-Maker (Chemist).

But if the Dev Team went with this aesthetic instead:

Then maybe it would be introduced from Radz-at-Han? Personally, I'd choose Garlemald if it were up to me.

    1. Salve-Maker
    2. Red Mage
    3. Samurai
    (And then Beastmaster)

This is the one I'd like, and Thavnair would indeed be perfect for it.
