Actually I personally hope it comes out like Yojimbo in FFX. Every party member has to pay the Samurai and based on how much he gets paid he will unleash a single devastating attack. Yojimbo was the greatest, coolest summon with the best intro.

To me the fantasy of the Swordsmen was more about facing your adversary eye to eye. The drawing of the blade, the salute or nod, the settling in to the stance, the breath held waiting for the first strike. The long sword Ninja some people seem to want makes little sense to me. When I think of Samurai i remember the tales of Musashibō Benkei, and Tadakatsu Honda. Two samurai that basically Tanked armies for their lords.While they were not regarded for their sword skill, their martial skill was as legendary as their loyalty and honor. (seriously Benkei pulled of a Cuchulain in real life)

And yes Log Horizon is one of my favorite anime, love they way they break down in game nuances.

My desire for SAM is more of the armored type, and hopefully one that deals with Oni. I love Oni so much, and would like to see it incorporated somehow, so tropes like this:

Definitely. It's why I love it so much, because they delve into all the questions that I would have when I think about a scenario of us getting sucked into a videogame. Really hope season 2 didn't turn them off from continuing the series.

I'm guessing you don't remember DF when 3.0 launched. It was nearly impossible for tanks to queue, and DPS had the easiest time for awhile.

RDM (° ͜ʖ ͡°) and considering that RDM can cast spells, they could back off the boss when necessary. I think RDM is their most solid healer choice out of the remaining popular jobs: SAM, RDM, BLU, DNC, BST, and RNG. That's not to say they couldn't make an entirely new healer, which they might. I also think DNC makes for a really great melee support, which is currently missing. I've never really considered DNC to be a full blown healer in any game even in FFXI where it was more of a solo class that you could do small content with. Dances also seem better suited to functioning like BRD songs, giving the party an array of different buffs or giving the enemies debuffs. We also need a pure DPS ranged job, so I think RNG would fit this nicely.

what's the point of making rdm, healer? there's already whm. whm/rdm/blm are supposed to be different - well rdm is supposed to be able to do multiple roles, which isn't going to happen, so it's more likely it will be a melee caster.
there's no support jobs, only certain jobs with some utility skills. if they add dancer, it will be a dedicated healer or dps, or maybe merge with something else, and make a new job. (such as with ast)

I too love Ronin Warriors. Although I will point out - I point to Yojimbo as an awesome Samurai and get corrected "he's a Ronin". Then a picture appears of an "Oni" from a show called literally "Ronin" Warriors.

Also I liked Seige (Sage?) the best. Whatever Samurai is it needs to have it's limit break be Anubis' QUAKE WITH FEAR!!! move.

Giant chains burst from the ground chaining up the enemy boss then the ground shakes and deals...the standard 3 gauge bar limit break amount of damage...but definitely feels way more powerful than any other LB.

Lol. Well Ronin Warriors was a power ranger esque Samurai show, which was definitely awesome, but you didn't see me linking images of the main characters. lol

That said, again, I'm not against the idea of Ronin. In fact, I think they could very easily differentiate a Tank and DPS by doing something like dual katanas for Tank since they don't have anything like that atm:

However, if I was forced to choose between a heavily armored SAM versus a robed ronin-type, I would always choose the heavily armored one.

In regards to LBs, I had an idea for a tank LB where an army of undead Ashigaru rise up and use fortifications to defend their "lord." You can use this, Yoshida. Royalty free.

Not really. It won't affect raiding too much, but I never made that point to begin with. I merely point out that it helps at a time when people are going to need it the most and be judging their MMO the most.

Something new? I think a healer that could turn on a melee stance when they don't need to heal sounds already interesting enough. Will we get it? Not sure. It could easily be a DPS, but I think if they add BLU, which I heavily expect that they will and should, then 2 melee caster DPS will be a little too redundant imho.

if "samurai" was a tank role would a red/blue mage with sword(s) dps satisfy the group that wants a sword dps? probably not....which group do we want to hear whine more when SE hits us with their plan; the ones who want samurai tank or the ones wanting a "good" sword dps class, lol? With the current armory system and direction I don't think samurai would come as both tank and dps.
