To me the fantasy of the Swordsmen was more about facing your adversary eye to eye. The drawing of the blade, the salute or nod, the settling in to the stance, the breath held waiting for the first strike. The long sword Ninja some people seem to want makes little sense to me. When I think of Samurai i remember the tales of Musashibō Benkei, and Tadakatsu Honda. Two samurai that basically Tanked armies for their lords.While they were not regarded for their sword skill, their martial skill was as legendary as their loyalty and honor. (seriously Benkei pulled of a Cuchulain in real life)

And yes Log Horizon is one of my favorite anime, love they way they break down in game nuances.

If Samurai were going to be a tank, they would be called a Shogun...not a Samurai. And would also not be using a katana.

I just hope whatever Samurai becomes, it's a romanticized version. I'm a suckered for flashy moves and outfits. If it becomes a tank it's gonna be sad when 90% of the community drops it in a month like DRK and we see one once in a blue moon.

As cool as that would be, I think they already said it was too hard to balance that again and they won't do it. More like their system is too limited.

Except he hasnt? We've already gone over every time he's talked about it's role and every time he's mentioned it potentially being a dps he's also talked about it potentially being a tank too. So your statement is just factually incorrect.

Every class can deal damage. So what's your point? As stated Yoshi hasn't decided if he wants SAM to be DPS or Tank yet.
