The fact is, FFXIV is a very simple game for the most part. Everything outside of progression raiding is designed so you could literally only use 1 or 2 skills and still get through it, and it gets really boring, really quickly, so some people like to challenge themselves and try to make things go quicker. I do my EX roulette everyday on SCH and am quite regularly on par with, if not above, the DPS in terms of numbers, cos I literally do not need to cast a single heal, Selene does more than enough to keep the tank up.

If I am tanking or dpsing and I see an AST doing no DPS, that's fine, if I see a WHM doing no DPS, then it is a little annoying, but I find it borderline offensive to see a SCH just standing there, or over-healing, which is just as bad.

Also, SE have given healers a pretty extensive DPS toolkit, which goes well beyond the 1 or 2 spells they would need at minimum to solo stuff, so if you don't use those skills, you are simply not making the most of your class. If a DPS or tank doesn't use CDs or large parts of their rotation, they get called out, so I find it rather irritating that people feel like healers should just be able to ignore large parts of their toolkit
