He means Spell Speed. SPEED is all the same to Dervy, he just uses Skill/Spell interchangeably based on the job. He's talking about Spell though.

Dervy, that reminds me to ask, will Skill Speed actually DO anything for Summoner? Or will it JUST be Spell Speed that does? Asking for the sake of equipping gear for tests that have Skill Speed on it. I don't want to skew results.

If you want a little more data to possibly help you with the Speed interaction I ran a 30 minute parse with Ifrit just attacking a dummy and here's my results and my gear stats.

792 Crit (17% Crit Rate)
539 Spell Speed

588 Burning Strikes
598 Auto Attacks

Nah. There's no way "Skillspeed" (the actual one this time, that affects Physical Jobs like Dragoon) should affect Pets. They changed it in 3.0. Only Spellspeed affects it.

Sorry, sorry for the confusion with Skill/Spellspeed. Just, being involved with Monk/Dragoon/Bard stuff every day nearly really gets to my head.

Like, I keep hearing mixed things about Spellspeed and the interaction with cast times of pets. I know SS doesn't affect the rate of Ifrits AAs, but I keep hearing a lot of things about the cast-time interaction with SS and Pets...

If someone can confirm once and for all whether it does or doesn't affect pet cast times, this will seriously help me.

Sorted it, dw It doesn't. And even if it affects Cast Times, it doesn't matter. The recast time will still be the case.

Yup. It affects damage, and I need that scale factor. Just... You need to be careful about isolating Crit, Skill/Spellspeed increase from Pet Trait, and non-crit values.

So pet damage scales with speed like DoTs do?

It scales in the sense that they attack more often because they have a shorter recast timer. It doesn't increase the raw damage they do per hit.
