Connecting the DoTs: A Summoner Guide

Judge-Xero's post a few page back showed Ifrit's Burning Strike volume scaling with speed while auto-attacks remained fixed. I am playing with Garuda now will have some data posted in about 30 minutes.

Edit: Well shit. My plan (assuming Spell Speed impacted the pets attack speed) was to do a 10 min parse with my normal gear and see how many attacks garuda did. Then remove all gear with spell speed and try again. But here is my first one:

564 Spell Speed (+210 from 60 base) and in 10 mins she did exactly 200 attacks: 3.0 attacks per second. The Spell Speed buff even went off numerous times and I let it be. Apparently it does nothing for Garuda. If speed had any impact she would have attacked more. 3.0 is Wind Blade's base speed, and an additional 210 spell speed and a few random 20% buffs along the way did nothing.

Thought I would give base Crit + base SPD a try.

I did 8, 28 minute trials and ended up with some strange results.

I got a range of 474-490 attacks Burning Strikes with the average being closer to 485 (IMO shows how much variance there is due to Enhanced Pet Edited: or some sort of delay for skills due to AA? )

It is interesting how much of an increase there is from my base SPD + 11% Crit results of 528 - BS (average +43 attacks over 28 mins) which may be due to how that initial point of SPD works, i.e. 355 SPD = 2.49 GCD - so with a higher crit average you would be sitting in that slightly shorter GCD with the pet. (only works when you are sitting at the base SPD i.e. 3s GCD vs 2.98 )

Sorry, I should have specified that it's Burning Strike. Auto Attack has stayed consistent @ 552 hits for 1680s for all the ranges of SPD/Crit I've tested.

I just tested with Ifrit and got the exact same thing btw - 199 Burning Strikes but I think I lost one at the start as he ran into range after my Ruin. He also did exactly 200 autoattacks. I use Obey so no timing get whacked with OGCD usage. Also of note, if you change gear you need to resummon your pet.

As of now unless I see something pretty definitive otherwise - despite patch notes stating otherwise, spell speed doesn't impact the pets...

When I first started testing days back I forgot about this and had to redo an hours worth of work. Good recommendation for everyone.

I don't actually think it effect's Ifrit's Burning Strike (my 10 min parse showed nothing). I know he is getting a little variance over 28 minutes, but I think it may be due to perhaps some delay in skill usage with OGCD. I just ate a Sohm Al tart to pump my SS more and have Ifrit going ham on a dummy as we speak, and gonna let it run for 20 mins instead of 10.

I'm starting to think Spell Speed is showing NO effect on pets and that it could be a bug. The Spell Speed buff could be more about our casts as Summoners. No real basis for this but I'll have the damage model done tonight or tomorrow.

Alrighty, just finished 20 mins with Ifrit. 592 SS so 238 over 60 base. Allowing all of the spell speed buffs to play out. 400 attack would be par.

Nothing (and actually 6 attacks under 400 which I can't explain). Spell Speed doesn't do jack for pets.

And for comparison base speed of 354:

394 Burning Strikes (1 ability in the second photo is a Ruin). 3.045 attacks per second at both speeds.
