I tend to look at the reasoning behind why echo never made it to 25% in Binding Coil of Bahamut. SE was satisfied with the number of people clearing it post-echo. So it leads me to believe that at least a decent amount of players are at least trying. I fully believe that not 99% are lazy and/or bad but I'm not delusional enough to think that there isn't a huge portion of people who fit into one or both of those categories.

Regardless, the nerf to SCOB is functionally pointless in terms of 'letting unskilled casuals progress'. T9 was being sold for weeks anyway, and you didn't need skill or initiative to do that, either. Unless you count spiritbonding a couple of det IV materia in Urth's Gift and posting them on the market board as 'initiative' or 'skill'.
The nerfs to SCOB must be the preclusion to what we should expect from a story mode raid in 3.0, as they were particularly heavy-handed. Virtually no effort to clearing the content but allowing people to experience some of the stuff SE designed without having to resort to YouTube.

The relic is a whole other can of worms that only hardcores even get to try because of how long the grind is for that. Silly SE, alternative to raiding takes longer than months of successful raiding?
