There's no need to do any of those things either, nor is it necessary that everyone be able to.
There's just an arbitrary line people draw up about what is considered important or integral and what is not.
When I stopped playing, I had little over 1mil Gil. And I never actively farmed Gil. Never bothered with it since the item market for me in this game is kinda crap.
You can't convince me that people with less then 1mil Gil has done any serious Gil farming. Or they spent it on something else.
As for the whole not enough plots. Well that is the biggest issue and where SE needs to step up fast.
They could arbitrarily come up with "must do T9 25 times and must have a HA weapon in order to unlock third coil" as requirement and there will ALWAYS be someone who plays the "its meant to be a challenge" card, usually followed by a ridiculous statement of others wanting a handout.
Sorry but no, not every bad choice devs take is equal to a challenge, learn to identify bad decisions.
If he did say we were lazing around, that is deserving of an epic face palm. If that is the case, maybe its because, I don't know, the content isn't cutting it and they need to go back to the drawing board? Blaming the players for not liking the game enough to stick with it is cringe worthy. When player reactions are mixed, its important to understand both sides of the coin and adapt the game accordingly. If they need someone to act as an intermediary in reading feedback to avoid the vitriol and maintain their creative drive, then they should assign someone to do it other than the developers.THIS!! The main goal to play this game should NEVER be about earning gil - EVER!!! He needs to understand this. No players should be cock-blocked from experiencing the game has to offer because you do not have enough gill. I really do hope that was "mistranslated" - accusing the player base just "lazing around" is indeed condescending. The Focus of the game should be about adventuring and doing various activities (endgame or not) - and should never be about "manipulating the market" and botting for mining and harvesting to make millions of gils. Though there are market for that, it's called gilsellers aka RMT.... I can't believe they support this type of activities.... why not just open a cash shop and call it a day, and stop charging us subscription.

Hmmm, 2.4 marriage/personal housing question. Will married couples be able to share a personal house, and will they be limited to one house per couple? (such as, if both own a house then get married will one be forced to give it up)
I make 2-4 million gil in a few hours of pressing two buttons every minute. It amazes me how people can't see that people have this kind of gil.You tell me which individual has this amount of money?
Balmung being legacy and people playing since '11, I just can't imagine anyone having 30mill to almost 90 mill in savings. I really can't.
Leviathan is new for 2.0 I REALLY don't know how anyone can manage that in a year unless ya'll a RMT.
Market board has been inflated but the rest of the world has not, it is easy to make money if you do very particular tasks that have received inflation due to rmt and players who play the game for a living. (Rmt on legacy servers in particular did Gil generating botting which is worse than just playing the market for money to rmt, though rmt does materia too)
SE priced housing based off the market wards, anyone who doesn't play the market and not play a lot for a long time is going to see the prices and be like 0_0? Lol
Luckily part of economics is demand so not all items on the boards are silly. I think it is easy to see how some people see the price as cheap and others see it as too damn high, lol, because there are two markets really. For those who don't want to play the board they will be pushed to rmt (or a grind seriously different).
Still the worst part of this system is the availability. Pricing sucks for people not part of the inflated market but we can help people with that issue, availability on the other hand... (I want a large house? Too bad, small? Too bad, i want a house in mist- too bad only goblet left). Wasn't crazy for wild star but the house system certainly would smoke this one out of its hole.

Entire post sounds like unneeded complaining just to complain. FFXIV is not Wildstar, nor should it strive to be like Wildstar in any way. If you like how housing works in Wildstar, then play Wildstar, enjoy the much easier housing system and doll up your house there. If you want to play with housing here, then you must abide and play by their own rules and go about housing in the matter they dictate.I don't think you quite understood my post. The problem is not the making of gil, it's what I'm doing with said gil. In WildStar, when I work on earning more gold, I'm doing so to obtain more decor items to continue construction on the elaborate plot I already have. In XIV, you work on earning gil to... buy the house. The customizing of homes in XIV was quite clearly a second thought - or perhaps SE is just not all that creative, or they just really, really like to control what their players do. Either way, the end result is: in one game, my money earning efforts go directly into more and more and more fun; in the other game, my money earning efforts drag on for months and then earn me one moment of satisfaction followed by "... and now what?"
I really, really want XIV to shift into the same category as the first game.
[edit] Dang I really need to post updates of my plots in WS... xD Those shots are old.
If it's expensive, so what? You want it regardless so you will go through whatever length to obtain a house, making your complaints about spending such an exorbitant amount of gil essentially meaningless outside of stating your opinion.
You're quick to compare FFXIV to Wildstar, why not just forget about obtaining a house here and just play that instead? You can't have it both ways without sacrificing something.
How about no? You dudes complain like babies regardless of the fact that Yoshi-P has already came out with a statement that they are working on the problem and will have a fix in the next patch and subsequent patches. What more do you dudes want? I'm glad Yoshi gives you guys insensitive responses as he's been doing as of late -- if you're not willing to wait, then you deserve every terse response he's willing to give. He shouldn't have to tailor his response to every individual complainer and their entitled opinion.
Also you can't compare the scenarios because housing takes up far more resources than something that's instanced. This is how they want to do it. They will find a fix. All of you players with your vitriol and biased complaints don't really help the matter. Deal with the fact that they want to have housing in this manner and take solace in the fact that they are already working on a fix -- they don't need your further complaints. You're better off posting constructive criticism instead.
Again, the funniest part about all of this is the fact that they will figure out a way to make most people happy at the end of the day, and all of this complaining will be for nothing.

Yeah that was lie #1 really. I remember it well. Here is a quote from Yoshi:
" In each legacy World, there are more than ten players in possession of over one hundred million gil. Even in non-legacy Worlds, there are a significant number of players with several million gil."
What. the. crap. So this housing scheme is built for like the 10 people that have gil to afford it?
Another choice Yoshi quote:
"With this pricing scheme, we sought a balance in which roughly 80% of all existing free companies will be able to purchase at least a small-sized plot in three months’ time."
Yeah, that's entire FREE COMPANIES. Not individuals. Making it the same is insulting.
