I would not mind the housing be an achievement; what I do mind is that it's all and only about gil, something that tempts to exploit gilbuying greatly.

FC houses to me should have required actual Company work. Such as "Earn XXXX amoung of Company Credits, Clear Raid X times, Defeat X amount of EX Primals with only FC members in your party" and so on. That's how I'd like to earn my FC all.

And the same should've happened with personal housing, too. I'm not saying to have it handed over like the Mog House in FFXI, but hell, give us something fun to work on in order to get us a house instead of mining crystals or farming fleece all day.

And for the love of Go-blins, make personal housing instanced. Yours servers will never be enough.

I think it would be nice to emphasize to him that there is a problem because individual people are forced to be in competition with whole FCs.

Having a separate (and hopefully, upgrade able/more detailed) personal housing system for individuals would have been better received by the players - even if it were instanced as long as it had nice yard space/scenery.

If they were linked to the one account (ie. my alternative character has the same permissions and access to my Personal house) then it would eliminate the problem of rich players buying up many homes thus leaving more for everyone.

That's actually how it can work. Back before I realized everyone in my Free Company sucked, I had us doing such content for the sole purpose of getting those crafting materials. Sure, there's nothing stopping you buying such items (or even furniture), but if you go with a group you've going to eventually get the drop and it'll go to your Free Company rather than a random and overall it saved you Gil that can otherwise go towards the house.

Earning money for the land was also something you can do together, Treasure Maps were great for this. Eight people, all with one map, that will net you around 100,000 Gil minimum from doing all the maps (over 300,000 Gil maximum), and that's all before you consider the other items that drop from the chests which went for a lot back then. Everyone just needs to donate the 1,600~5,000 Gil they get per map to the Free Company and, as a group, you're earning that house easily.

My problem with housing is gil and availability. I managed to save 1 mil gil. and no I do not "laze" around (I thought that was rather insulting). Also on my server every small plot, cept Ul'dah (yuck) has been sold. So in 2.4 there will be more plots available, but I doubt very highly I'm gonna have 5 mil gil. So I will still be locked out. No housing should not be an achievement. Gear and weapons should be achievements, not housing.

Blame the community for focusing on it so much; he didn't even really lie about the price, just the fact that prices would be separate. Just go look back at 2.1s patch notes (which they even linked in the 2.38 patch notes) for the old prices; Lowest price for a small was 4,000,000 and now it's 2,000,000. Highest price for a large was 625,000,000 and now it's 87,500,000. All before prices depreciate.

Prices have come down a lot over the past nine months. The only lie is that he said prices for Personal and Free Company Housing would be separate, when they're not. People complaining about price haven't been putting effort into saving Gil (or they've just been doing it wrong and should read the post I made somewhere on how to print Gil), the only issue outside them screaming is that of the number of plots not meeting demand, an issue not helped by the fact they have individuals and companies competing.

Personal housing is not an achievement nor should it be, but simply fun fluff that should be available to everyone from the start ( now that's just my opinion!) but making in line "work wise" or "achievement wise" with relic upgrades as you said is almost embarrassing if they think that way. lol sad.

Housing is a personal achievement. Do you know how I have come to that conclusion? The game's director said it is. People really need to understand that. This game's housing is a gil sink and something you're are supposed to dedicate TIME towards getting it. If you want casual housing this is not the game for you.
