5mil(which is the cost of a small plot on my server) is nothing if you're an active Builder of the Realm and/or Provider of the Realm. I bet you anything every single house in my ward was legitimately earned.
I have a small house, so feel free to take back your assumption.

I was referring to large houses. You do know it wasn't just small houses that got the "personal" label, right? The starting price of a large "personal" house is 87m, why isn't Yoshida afraid of this drawing a lot of gil buyers?

Probably because he knows there are plenty of players who can afford one? The price will drop over time. I've already afforded two mansions, and if I cared to, I could probably upgrade from my current small personal to a third large within the next month (when they'll have dropped to their lowest price).

Oh, I see. Your post says "arge" instead of "large". I thought "arge" was a typo and didn't belong in your post.

Still, I honestly don't think there's a lot of gil buying just to get a large house(if any at all...). All the large houses in the new wards on my server are still open.

They know exactly how much gil every single player has? That's nice if they can do a quick scan just like that. We have to give them credit for that!

Wait a second... How come there are still known gil buyers walking around?

So what if there are a thousand players that can afford it? That just means there are hundreds of thousands who can't and Yoshi is driving those in to the welcoming arms of gil sellers instead of reducing the demand for gil which is the only way to limit the supply. The stupidity and arrogance of using RMT as an excuse for the housing fiasco really pisses me off.

My reasoning is due to the fact that it is on Ward 1, which came out ages ago.

But yea, there are honest and dishonest plot sellers.
Yes, the first one (screenshot) is a FC. However, it a small plot and shouldn't be sold for 15mil. As you said also, there are honest and dishonest people and when it comes to gil like that. Who to say the person that selling the plot is going to turn it over to you once you hand over that 15mil? There also the very odd chance that someone who was also seeing the ad in PF won't be standing there waiting for that plot to come undone and grab it out from under the person who bought it from the seller. See what I'm saying? This is another flaw in the housing system. In Aion, if someone lost their house (not keeping up the maint fees or owner didn't want anymore) it would go right back up on the auction for the price it started out at when housing came out in Aion.
This is not to say any of this will happen but can happen and if it does, SE going to have another mess on their hands.

I want to add to the chorus of voices asking about the space. I had plenty of gil and got on when servers came online, and in under five minutes everything was sold out. How is that fair? I'd really like him to address this.

His lack of insight is really worrying - he somehow does not understand (nor getting it) that by raising prices, it makes people WANT MUST NEED to buy gill so that they can have a chance to own private housing. If you give everyone FREE room for housing and gardening (SEE FFXI - best way to give free things to all) - suddenly it will loose its value, and no one needs to buy gill, killing RMT in the process. I really suspect they made some sort of deal with RMT...

After thinking about it a bit, I have to wonder if YoshiP really made the comment that he thinks players that don't spend their time earning gil are just "lazing around" or if that is just the OP's personal feelings coming through in the report. I really hope that isn't YoshiP's attitude toward us. It's just condescending.

I thought about my average day in the game, and while I don't devote much time to actively earning gil, I DO spent a LOT of time accomplishing PvE related content. I'm actively working on a relic. I do my daily roulettes. I bang my head against t5 whenever I see a PF for it. I am always in the towers. I will hit up a hunt if the horde is in the zone I'm in. I'm working on improving my character.

I don't feel that I am in any way, shape, or form a "lazy" player. I accomplish things in game. I have several jobs at 50 and geared, and the rest are slowly coming up as I have time. I am trying to work in some crafting, but it's just not a big interest of mine. I don't want to play an economy mmo. I don't think all day about how to scam the AH and make money. I think about how to beat Twintania with a pug. I don't sit there and watch my piles of Gil grow. I get out into Eorzea and save the realm like a good adventurer is supposed to.

And at the end of it, I'd really like a small slice of the world to return to when it's all over. Check a plant or two. Say good night to Chococabra. SE keeps adding housing "options" to the game, but all of them have fallen so short of the mark it's not even funny. Considering how low the target was set, it's baffling that it could be this big a failure. It's not like this is their first mmo ever. They helped define the idea of player housing over a decade ago, and a good chunk of us who were asking for it had "Mog Houses" - sweet and simple - in mind.

XI was really bad with how much emphasis they put on catering to the crafting\gilmaking crowd and I never imagined it could ever get any worse, but here it is. The producer is calling players who actually want to experience the adventure part of the game lazy.

THIS!! The main goal to play this game should NEVER be about earning gil - EVER!!! He needs to understand this. No players should be cock-blocked from experiencing the game has to offer because you do not have enough gill. I really do hope that was "mistranslated" - accusing the player base just "lazing around" is indeed condescending. The Focus of the game should be about adventuring and doing various activities (endgame or not) - and should never be about "manipulating the market" and botting for mining and harvesting to make millions of gils. Though there are market for that, it's called gilsellers aka RMT.... I can't believe they support this type of activities.... why not just open a cash shop and call it a day, and stop charging us subscription.
