I could imagine titan - it would be quite differently designed than what it is now to compensate for the difference in battle system. Weighted physics doesn't necessarily always mean animation lock.
All i ever see about 1.0 is how slow the combat is slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Hnnngh, that stopping animation... why, Squeenix?! Whyyyy?!
That being said, the combat animations aren't that much different from 2.0, just noticeably slower. It's the sliding around in combat that gets on my nerves.
I can't say I agree, everything in 1.0 had alot of "Weight" into it from how your character swing their weapon to how they had to actually forcefully jump to and fro. Hell 2.0 has some nice animation quallity in general but they removed the weight of the animations in compensation for speed and removing animation lock, we now swing our weapons as if they were as light as air and our characters have no real reaction to swinging a weapon around that should move/shift/unabalance their stances.
Current animations are made with no real regards to how the body itself reacts to heavy motion again due to the need for them to keep players mobile even if it means sliding.
Yeah, I just have to completely disagree with that. I definitely feel the weight of my axe when I'm playing warrior, thank you very much.
In fact, the whole sliding around thing is specifically BECAUSE they tried to preserve that feeling of 'weight' in the combat animations by making sure the entire body can be used for swinging the weapon, something that would be impossible if they disengaged the motion of the lower body with the upper body (which is something some really ignorant people have asked for as a solution; obviously, I disagree with that vehemently). The only real difference from 1.0 I can see is simply the fact that you can't slide around while the animation is playing. Well, that, and some attacks simply don't exist anymore in 2.0.

Eh opinions no?
I just see the characters weight move in the old motions in a way I don't see in 2.0. Personally I'd love if they put in the effort to have some animation blending so you don't slide around all willy nilly.
