This argument against add-ons has existed since they became commonplace in MMOs and always remains the most ignorant and desperate plea against them I've ever seen.

it's not at all a plea against them, i personally love the aoe warning. it lets me be lazy and not remember aoe's

i am not against add on's or parsers. but you can't openly state they aren't hand holding that's their job to hold your hand and make things easy.

Yes, I can state that. Because it's clear you have no idea what a parser is or what a parser does.

What a parser DOES:

- Collects data from a file (Usually a combat log) and parses it into easily identifiable numbers
- Displays those numbers based on encounters and individuals, usually in an average (DPS) or total (Damage Done)

What a parser does NOT do:

- Tell you how to play your class
- Move you out of AOEs
- Tell you about boss mechanics
- Tell you your rotation
- Advises you how to gear
- Make you mean-spirited
- Give you any sort of in-game advantage

You learn MORE about all of those things from community guides and videos. Arguing that parsers somehow 'hold your hand' when they do absolutely nothing but display data in a hard number is ignorant. You would have to argue that everyone looking up guides and watching videos is also having their hand held, and that's just plain stupid.

The thing I see about this is that ppl are gonna use 3rd pty tools whether a company likes it or not. If they wanted this to end they should give what ppl wanted in the first place. Banning ppl isn't gonna help, hell it'll make them lose money if they wanted to do that. I get what Yoshi-P said, keep the dang thing to yourself, keep it hush hush cause he and SE wants your money, but they have to follow their rules in the end. For parsers I would give it a 50/50. Yes, it does help the player, I doubt ppl are against it doesn't even wonder how to make their job they play become better at it, hell I would. U want to know if the dmg u make does the max it can go w/ the current gear and rotations. U want to be 1 of the most useful ppl out in that game, in that server. Of course it does bring out the bad in us though.

I have never seen anyone get vote kicked from a DF group for low dps nor can I think of a fight in which you would run into a shit DPS that could only be removed by vote kicking. If you can't carry a DF random through say Hakkue Manor HM then you are a shit dps yourself and have no business complaining about others dps. Can you even vote kick someone from a premade group I'm pretty sure you can't.

Out of all seriousness it's not all about the DPS going "LOOK AT MUH MAX DEEPS";




It's more about the sitting for 30-40 minutes wiping because you simply don't meet the basic DPS checks, so you find the issue (some try to help, some just replace the issue).

The issue is then fixed or adjusted and time is saved. Tools always exist for a reason.

Knowing what to do is one thing. Executing it is an entirely different affair.

By your logic, nobody should wipe to anything before T7 in this game because videos of kills exist. But that isn't the case, is it?

My static group has been working on T6 since it came out. A guide on T6 exists. Does that mean we should kill it, no problem, after watching that video? No, of course not. I can look up a recipe on the internet and follow it to the letter and still have my dish turn out badly.

You're confusing seeking guidance with hand holding. Nobody is standing over my shoulder and personally helping me through content by posting a video or a guide. In the end it's still up to me and my 7 other raid members to execute it and perform well.

Videos and guides is hand holding, they are showing you exactly what to watch out for and what to do. I accept that I am having my hand held when I look up said videos, and so should you.
