Are we paying for maintenances?

Most of there emergency maintenance have been to fix different bugs in the game... Coil and some monsters that people could glitch and kill... If you read the patch notes you would see this and understand that everything they are doing is for a reason... I get affected by the maintenance everytime because I work a night shift but sometimes thats the way the cookie crumbles... At least they don't run it during the weekends...

Hi i'm an old gamer that so far have started to get disappointed with this game.
I get out of work at 10pm PDT and TBH i can say that 2-3 days out of the 7 days i see
Maintenance,Maintenance,Maintenance
How many things does Square need to fix?
Is not like this game is Large and has so many abilities and jobs, so they have a lot of bugs
Maintenance 3 days ago, 2 days ago and today?
Please Square Sop this, take a FULL DAY A WEEK to fix your things and stop doing this MICRO MAINTENANCES that hurts some of your customers.

BTW can someone please tell me why i can't post in general?
I get error about not being high enough level.
I have 3 lv 50 clases so that's clearly wrong.

Or we could go back to old school MMOs and just have the game hack/duped/bugged out the door and have no way to recover the game but to reset you 2 months back.

I'm sorry but if they make the maintenance early then it would affect players. If they do it in the morning they affect many players and EU players. So all i can say is they don't work on your hours they work what is best. They see how many players are on and pick the best hours to do there maintenance it going to happen no matter game you play so just chill they wont be that many maintenance later on.

I'm sorry but I don't see the point you're making here - your subscription for the game's service is paid by the day, not the hour - maintenance usually lasts for barely two to three hours, not days.

The only time that downtime occurred longer than a few hours was back in 2011 in the aftermath of the tragic Japanese earthquake, and this was not maintenance but due to a government directive that SE had to reduce their power consumption, so they shut off the FFXI and XIV 1.0 servers temporarily to do that.

The servers were turned back on two weeks later when they discovered their HQ lighting and heating used more power than the FFXI and XIV servers. SE actually compensated FFXI players with waiving the fees for that month (FFXIV at the time was still on the extended free subscription).

That was an extreme case outside SE's hands however, which is why SE compensated players - a few hours downtime for maintenance is completely different and has little impact in a month's service, therefore there is no compensation needed.

That these maintenance breaks only occur so that SE can complete character transfers? If so, then ya - they shouldn't be taking the servers down every other day for that sort of thing. Is SE well within their legal rights in taking down the servers to conduct maintenance? Absolutely! I'd never contest that. If this is emergency maintenance for non-emergency matters (such as poorly implemented/coded character transfer systems), then I'm afraid SE should be help entirely culpable for a rather amateurish job of it. I'm am also one of their paying customers. Conduct transfers once per week, not maintenance four times per week. This is logic.

Who CARES? It only lasts 2 hours each time. Go to sleep for 2 hours set your alarm and play for a while then go to sleep when/if you need to. Its what i do. If you get off at 10:00 play for 2 hours. Sleep for maintenance, wake up to play for however long you want, and if you need more sleep go back to sleep till work again. Not that complicated.

You can't correct their official terms of service. If they had a line in there saying "every time you came on the forums acting like a know it all jerk you lost a day of playtime" and you agreed? Perfectly legal. If they said that "you can only play for 48 minutes a day" Perfectly legal. Nothing you can do about it. You signed it. Grow up and accept it.

Hey, just so you're aware, if the terms of service said "Square-Enix gets your soul if you agree" they wouldn't legally have the right to your soul. Just so you're aware, the terms of service that you agree to isn't an end-all-be-all legal defense. This is coming from someone who has a degree in law studies.

Most companies on provide pro-rated subscription or payment when there are major issues. Phone company working on your lines? You still have to pay your monthly bill. You only get pro-rated if it runs past a certain time. Same thing if a storm knocks out your power or the city has to dig up your sidewalk for repairs.

Playing a MMO, it's common knowledge that maintenance will happen on a regular basis. As I said before.. NO ONE LIKES IT. But it's part of the experience. There's no way around it. If you want them to pro-rate you a couple cents each maint, take it to court. By the time you're done with all the legal fees I hope that $3 -$4 is worth it to you.

On the flip side, they can quit doing any maint and let the the game crash and die. Then everyone can be happy. Yay.

For the most part it is the "Be-all-end-all" of a legal defense when it comes to something you signed. You signing it means you accept any and everything inside the ToS. Unless something is illegal in the Terms themselves you must abide by it.

EX: If they said you had to send them a picture of your genitals every time you logged off outside of an inn.

THAT'S illegal. Short of something like that? You signed. That is all.

You are right about it should say ".. and payment.. " morally, but they didn't and you signed it anyway.
