Not sure where you've been. Even some of the pay-for games have had terrible releases, followed by a month or two of emergency maintenance and patches 2-3 times every other week or so. However, they often handled it by patching the game WHILE people were still online in playing, followed by a restart of the game that lasted 10 minutes tops. It was less noticeable. But I doubt SE has this capability. Let's be honest; I think we've seen what their servers can handle, and it doesn't seem to be much.

Am I the only person who has experienced several MMO launches?

The time before the first numbered patch (in most MMOs), is commonly utilized as a core bug-fixing phase, even post beta, as this is when the vast majority of clients are actively connecting.

And there are still some important bugs being addressed, largely due to overpopulation issues.

That said, it will eventually return to a routine maint process. They had previously inferred that 2 maintenances per week would be common at 2-3 hour downtime chunks each, in order to assist with memory, lag, and bugfixes.

So yes, you are paying for maintenance too, as it contributes to maximizing overall uptime experience.

Get used to it, as you won't find a MMO experience a perfect launch. That is a myth. Many even struggle after major patches.

I understand about the maintenance, i understand about they need to fix things.
what i'm asking is for them to ROTATE THE SCHEDULE when they do this maintenance , because they have been affecting THE SAME GAMERS.
What i still don;t understand is why do people get bothered by my tread?
If you are not affected by this why do you care?

If i see any more NAME CALLING i will report the poster, and you know how square is, thy BAN first and investigate latter.
    So again, watch it!
If your going to post your opinion, do it so without the name calling.
So here goes again TO SQUARE-ENIX
Please if you are going to do a lot of MICRO maintenance please rotate the schedule!

It does seem like we're paying for maintenance. My gameplay hours, almost every chance I get to play, are right about the same time that Square Enix decides to do Emergency Maintenance. Which is just about every day. This leaves me with maybe an hour a day if I'm lucky, and I only get a chance to play maybe 2-3 days a week.

Maintenance did seem to die down for a bit...until the world transfer service. In other words, they didn't test it properly, released it, and everything went FUBAR. News flash: If you have maintenance virtually every night to put out fires stemming from a faulty new service, it's not Emergency Maintenance. That's just bad programming. And at this point, it can no longer be blamed on "a typical MMO" launch. It has been more than 2 months, and like I said, maintenance died down to a good routine, until they broke it with the transfer service.

Your servers seem to have more "emergencies" than the United States government has...and that says something.

There has been a lot of maintenance, but it hasn't really bothered me. Maybe I'm too passive and just kind of accept that it happens. After the constant emergency maintenance and servers going down in flames when Cryptic/PWE released Legacy of Romulus this kind of seems like a cake walk. My fleet was pretty active then and less than a quarter of us could actually patch, let alone get in and play.

I was pleasantly surprised the other night when there was no maintenance and I played through the entire night into early morning.. and it was also the night daylight savings time ended so I was like "Huh. It's been 1:00 am for a looooooong time." haha!

It was like a little treat.

It really would suck if server maintenance keeps landing during your play time, but at the same time it has to be done. What can you do about it other than just roll with it?

Honestly? Take my own advice that I give others, and play another game. It's just not worth paying for a game you can't play, no matter how good the game may be. It's like having a membership to an amusement park, and it rains every day, so the rides are always closed down. It's just a waste. Of money and time.

And while I can appreciate and congratulate you on enjoying a night of thorough and unbroken gameplay, a service that you pay for, being available when you want to use it, shouldn't be a pleasant surprise or a treat. It should be, more or less, assumed.

And while every online service must occasionally have maintenance, A Realm Reborn has entered the realm of excessive. After the first FFXIV failed, their determination to remake it, and better, should have included more than just content. It should have included the hardware.

    I understand the maintenance but...
Over 10 in the last two weeks is retarded. Yes Square has the right to take them down. and NA/EU go down for 3-4 hours at a time. The Japanese ones are down 1-2. I pay my fees to play the game not to have some weak ass people who like to transfer servers all the time take away from my playing time. I strongly encourage the hackers out there to screw up hack the hell out of those accounts they are they reason maintenance is happening. Square can hardly say well its a new game, they, this isnt their first go at this. FF11 and FF14 1.0 you cant tell me they haven't learned already. How is it game like League of legends can do maintenance on their game while people are still playing and they have over 50 million accounts by Square has to bring it down for 4 hours.

I'm not disagreeing with you. Like I said, it would toooootally suck if it kept landing in the middle of your normal gaming time. I've been fortunate enough that when I am home and want to play on maintenance days I've been able to log in earlier and get some stuff done, or the times have coincided when I'm at work on night shift.

Hopefully it'll get resolved soon and they can get on a more regular schedule like other games and people can plan around it.
