    i honestly feel like there were a whole bunch of changes made to this game because of pvp >.> just gonna throw that out there.
    i dont have it all listed but the only thing that seems that way and is related to character movement and stuff is how the camera is always behind your character. i dont like that one bit, i prefer my character running freely and my camera separate, not that weird turn when i turn my camera and my character marches in place to match the camera, looks so bad ; ;

    Hopefully they give us Camera options for this I can't see why they wouldn't...but you never know.

    yeah i hope that comes back, thats one thing thats really easy to implement
    this animation thing should really be something they can do without hindering gameplay at all, and i would love to believe that it will come back at some point (the lost polish animations) but with the confirmation that it was a choice to take them out, and the fact that after 2 big threads on this topic and the majority of players saying they want these animations back and we still got no response about this is worrying me

    Hmmm, that might be due to high ping with the server.

    If you want to find out, follow the steps.

    -Run the game in window mode, so that you can alt-tab
    -While the game is running, open up "Resource Monitor" (You can easily find it by typing "resource" in the search, on your Start panel.
    -Go to the "Network" tab
    -Find FFXIV, and look up the Address (This is the IP of your server)
    -Open your Start panel again, and type in the search "cmd" and enter. This will open the Command Prompt.
    -In the Command Prompt, simply type "ping 00.000.000.00" (meaning ping, space, and then the IP of your server)
    -Press Enter.

    What we're looking for, is the "time= ???ms"

    This is your ping. If it is around 150-300, it might cause what you're describing.

    Also note : Even if your ping is low, in situations where other people are around, or in certain areas or events, (ifrit) you can experience unresponsiveness.

    (I'm sorry if i was over-analytical or if you already knew all of this, but some people may don't.)

    That might be part of the reason. It's one thing if we never had it, taking it away is worse.

    If they forgot 1.0 even existed. I wonder how the comments would be in terms of "What the Quality truly is" and not " They took this away from FFXIV now its going to fail" type attitude.
    I'd be still concerned about the current quality, but 1.0 being non existent, and the whole epic fail at launch being non existent, I'd probably wait till beta.

    In our current situation though, I'm being overcautious, simply because I was disappointed badly already. They don't have my trust back yet.

    Verytus, and other moderators that might read this, is it possible to change the title of the thread as seen in the general discussion forum to something more specific like "Movement Animation Downgrade in ARR" ? This might help reducing the hostility, since the current one implies ARR as a whole is a downgrade. I apologise for that, and i want to change it.

    the whistle animation for chocobo was also missing in the version at Gamescom.. and now was inside the game afterwards.

    what does it tell us? its work in progress, as they mentioned also hundred times "we are sorry to show an early version like that, first we did not wanted to show it (better for them they did)" i am sure that you will get back your "stop walking" animation and more details while running.


    its so obvious that these are unfinished animations, like others are just spaceholders or not inside yet.. (like calling your chocobo which is inside now). i play MMorpgs since 2001 and have seen so many alphaversions or even pre-alpha.


    Dark Age of Camelot as an example... Alpha/pre-alpha status (mostly for concepts and gameplay design):

    FFXIV ARR is a complete rebuilt of the game with a new engine and some new animations.

    are you really thinking that the team for animations is sleeping till beta phase?
    the game is not even in alpha testing phase yet.
    people will have the chance to give feedback in alpha and beta as well.


    there was even no chocobo animation in the very early phase at gamescom.
    So calm down. Its okay if you are worried about it. but i am really sure these animations are not finished yet (as they said many things are in early phase). so go ahead and give your feedback. first of all i disliked the headline very much "ARR = downgrade" which is a slap into the developers faces for investing so much time in redesigning the whole game (Gridania etc.)

    i respec their hard work and i am graceful for that.

    Well i cant really tell you if i'm going to miss these "tiny" animations till i played it. Because i cant remember even one mmorpg/rpg who has a stoping animation like that (no drama if you ask me)

    ok its these little things that make a game some kind of special. but i also think its not the most important part. since i think the walking animation itself was not really much different to what we have now (except the stop movement and back walking).. and other things are also so much better than what we have now.
