Is version 2.0 really coming out before 1-1-13

Q: When will Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 launch?
A: I expect the first Closed Beta for the Japan and International servers to be held end September or early October, entering Closed Beta 2 this winter and Open Beta in January next year. We will be talking to Shanda Games about the China server, with features such as PvP, blocking 3rd party programs and localization, hence the Chian server will launch later.

Couple things to note with this:

- He Didn't Specify what kind of Beta ( PC- Will have a beta of Some sort, but they failed to tell us which for the PC Version)
-He didn't Specify if the Beta Timeline is for PC ( we know PS3 will have a closed beta).
-He was only Discussing the Timeline till the " Retail Launch of the game" We the Legacy players (and anyone else that's has a Copy of FFXIV will probably play 2.0 in it's retail before it hits the stores ( probably a month or 2 gap).

PC- WILL have a Beta but they will probably won;t do a "Closed Beta" for it.. PS3 is Def, having that though.

We definitely need clarification. They were talking about launch of ARR which would mean debating what the betas are for is pointless, they will give us warning long before the actual server shutdown date.

Yoshida implied that launch will be after the beta in January, now we just need clarification on the accuracy of this time frame and given an idea on how long we will be without xiv.

As much as I would love an answer, I think that they pretty much don't know the exact time frame yet. Many issues can easily arise in something as complex as rebuilding a whole new system and transferring data through servers (not to mention applying the bulk of that transferred data to the new system). Giving themselves as much flexibility in an complex situation like this is probably the best way to ensure quality (as already stated by Yoshida).

So pretty much they can give a time frame to users and potentially fall short - causing much disappointment or keep users in the dark and advise of a time frame when they have something more concrete.

Either way someone will be disappointed.

If they are comfortable enough to attempt estimating the release of ARR then I am sure they are comfortable enough to clear things up.
