Also if you look at the end of this:I think the March 2013 date is a typo... Should be March 2012. If you look all the way at the bottom of the PDF, it says:
・April 2012 –Version 2.0 client system complete
-Commence porting of current game content to version 2.0 client
Don't think they'd start porting data a year before the development of it was done. Everything in that PDF has 2012 stamped all over it.
And yes, migrating the data over could indeed take a month. I've worked on much smaller scale projects where data conversion took a full day (10+ hours). Don't forget, they're not just copying a file from one machine to another.. The data needs to be converted to fit whatever new data structure they have on the new systems.
I'm like the majority here, expecting downtime late this year, back up early next.. A welcomed break to play some other games that have been piling up.
Its says Closed beta for ONLY PS3 AND Version 2.0 Free Trial Period Commences! ( Probably for the PC!)
It sounds like the Free Trial Period is like a semi-beta. Could be wrong.
Only guessing, but current accounts get transferred during the closed beta phase, then we play our characters in the free trial period, and anyone new can join in the game until it gets it's full release in 2013 with the retail release then have to pay? Something doesn't sound right..
Considering the fact that the downtime for the current 1.0 players could be detrimental for the success of the game, I wouldn't be surprised if they consider the closed betas as a free trial. I mainly think this because if I remember correctly, they said in an interview that the PS3 beta and the PC beta will be running together at the same time. Not only that, but if SE thinks that the PC version doesn't need a closed beta then they must believe that their in-house testing was 100% successful, which is never the case.
While that is all true, they shouldn't have misleading information for 8-9 months, but will see, Gamescom should reveal some information about that, considering how close we are to beta.Considering the fact that the downtime for the current 1.0 players could be detrimental for the success of the game, I wouldn't be surprised if they consider the closed betas as a free trial.
