Is version 2.0 really coming out before 1-1-13

The new server system is already up and running on internal development equipment, and we are in the process of finalizing general
search features, the party system, the friend system, and more. At the current pace, we hope to have all basic system features
completed by February 2012.
After that, we will begin work on the worldless party matching system, as well as the porting of all current content data and player
character data. We expect these tasks to be complete by the third quarter of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013

Here is where it gets confusing for the not so intelligent folks out there.

Comprehensive Roadmap
■The Road to Version 2.0
・Late November to Early December – Monthly subscription fees begin (PC)
・Late November to Early December – Patch 1.20
・Early February 2012 – Patch 1.21
・February 2012 – Development test server reconstruction complete
・Mid April 2012 – Patch 1.22
・April 2012 – Version 2.0 client system complete
- Commence porting of current game content to version 2.0 client
・Early to Mid July 2012 – Patch 1.23
・August 2012 – 2.0 marketing campaign begins (including trailer release)
・September to October 2012 – Begin distribution of version 2.0 software for PC
- Begin distribution of PlayStation®3 system beta version
・October to November 2012 – Reinstate limited free trial period for PC version
- Commence PlayStation®3 system closed beta test
・Post-January 2013 – Version 2.0 client (PC and PlayStation®3 system) goes on sale
- Free trial period ends

POST means AFTER January 2013. They left it open because they don't know when it will be ready.

Expect 2.0 to actually launch sometime around late April/Early May, based on previous experience SE is not so good at keeping their schedules.

It goes on sale Post January, but I'm sure we get to play it ahead of retail.. and Late April Early May? When they close down the Servers of 1.0 in October and have 300 people working on this 1 HUGE project?.. I don't believe that judgement call :P. Having servers down for 8 months is Absurd.

sigh...another person that cant read.

the PORTING of CHARACTER DATA (aka your dumba**) is expected to be finished sometime in march. In otherwords you will be playing beta on a NEW CHARACTER which will probably be deleted just like they were in 1.0 beta when the game is finally launched.

seriously can you read?

According to the info released by SE the servers for 1.0 probably wont even go down until sometime early to mid feb and then the port of the content should be done early to mid march meaning the actual game launch would be either early april or (depending on set backs) may.

I registered my copy starting at release. Assuming Beta is going to start in November, I will pay for August, September and October (90 days). Would that not qualify me for Legacy status?

Ah, I assumed since you just started paying that you just got the game. Well, I guess it's possible then if you pay for enough time.

Yeah I actually paid for 7,000 crysta when the game launched, but they kept giving us free months so I never used it. Then some real life stuff came up and I had to take an exteded break until the end of last month. It's not make or break if I do or don't get it, but I'd like the denotion on my account if it's still possible.

According to a translation Catapult posted earlier in the thread, it seems like the beta is not supposed to start until November now, which is why I asked the question about legacy status.

Well its only August and September, end of September/Early October they Start the First Phase of beta, the November Beta could be anything PC will probably get a head start of PS3 on Playing FFXIV ARR.

Hopefully I qualify for legacy too! I bought the collectors edition long ago >.>; and september 7 will mark my 90 days for legacy

Third quarter of a fiscal year ending in march is october-december. Not March. Either way, it gives them a 3 month window to finish that. Meaning they'll have it done by Open beta. Doesn't sound like april/may.

Going back on character data transfers, is it safe to assume that, it is quite possible that whatever character(s) we play as on the PC beta will be the vessel/placeholder of our "reborn" character(s)? I can't think of any possible way for race/gender/name change to work unless this is the case, which is kind of cool.

Also, keep in mind that if the 1.0 servers shutdown and the 2.0 beta starts, and going what I said above, you're basically playing your character from scratch until the transfer is complete. That shouldn't be a big deal, if you really think about it.

Just a speculation.
