Is version 2.0 really coming out before 1-1-13

Yoshida previously said during the server consolidation that the current servers would also be used for 2.0. Because of that, 1.0 will end when 2.0 goes into beta. Since open beta doesn't even start until January, you're looking at some extensive downtime until actual launch.

NO the actual servers wont used for 2.0. ... he said that it will need some time to transfer all character datas to all new servers (new server structure) and the new game client as well..

and the ONLY version which goes into Closed beta phase is the PS3 version!!

- October/November free trial play period for PC starts, PS3 Closed Beta starts
- Retail Version of FFXIV (PC & PS3) being selled in Jan
- Free trial perios ends in jan

so finally i'd say.. we wont be able to play for 1 month (this will be october) and playing maybe in november the new version of FFXIV.

Lmao! Why are some of you having such a hard time getting it? Are you guys like... In denial, or something? This has already been pointed out in this thread like 20 times, but since people seem to keep missing it or something, here it is again:

Q: When will Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 launch?
A: I expect the first Closed Beta for the Japan and International servers to be held end September or early October, entering Closed Beta 2 this winter and Open Beta in January next year. We will be talking to Shanda Games about the China server, with features such as PvP, blocking 3rd party programs and localization, hence the Chian server will launch later.

GE: Speaking of Beta, will there be downtime between current game and 2.0?
Yoshida: What’s going to happen is that after the current version is finished and storyline over, the servers will go down and the 2.0 beta will start up. We want to make sure we don’t make the same mistake as before, and want to be sure we have enough time not only for the beta test but also to get feedback from the players and leave enough time to implement that feedback. Also, keep in mind that transferring the characters to the new servers and systems could take up to a month. So that process will be running while the beta test is in place. There can’t be a launch immediately after the current servers are shut down.

It's straight from the mouth of the director of this game that the open beta is planed to start in January, the only thing left to ponder is how long it's going to be before they end the beta and launch 2.0...
