If we all wish together hard enough, maybe we can make our wishes come true!

The interviews state that 1.x will go down when 2.0 beta starts, however they never specified which beta. Is it the start of open beta or closed beta? If it's the start of the first closed beta than that's way more than the month that they've stated it would take to transfer the data. So basically, we have no idea when the servers are going to shut down really. Until they specify which one it's just guessing and speculation.
People are probably basing the cut off time to be around the end of the 3 month period that they took away our 3+ month billing and end of legacy time frame. I do not want to be without xiv for 3-5 months and hope they make sure we dont have to wait that long. The interviews state that 1.x will go down when 2.0 beta starts, however they never specified which beta. Couple things to note with this:Q: When will Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 launch?
A: I expect the first Closed Beta for the Japan and International servers to be held end September or early October, entering Closed Beta 2 this winter and Open Beta in January next year. We will be talking to Shanda Games about the China server, with features such as PvP, blocking 3rd party programs and localization, hence the Chian server will launch later.
- He Didn't Specify what kind of Beta ( PC- Will have a beta of Some sort, but they failed to tell us which for the PC Version)
-He didn't Specify if the Beta Timeline is for PC ( we know PS3 will have a closed beta).
-He was only Discussing the Timeline till the " Retail Launch of the game" We the Legacy players (and anyone else that's has a Copy of FFXIV will probably play 2.0 in it's retail before it hits the stores ( probably a month or 2 gap).
PC- WILL have a Beta but they will probably won;t do a "Closed Beta" for it.. PS3 is Def, having that though.
We definitely need clarification. They were talking about launch of ARR which would mean debating what the betas are for is pointless, they will give us warning long before the actual server shutdown date.Couple things to note with this:

Yoshida implied that launch will be after the beta in January, now we just need clarification on the accuracy of this time frame and given an idea on how long we will be without xiv.
If they are comfortable enough to attempt estimating the release of ARR then I am sure they are comfortable enough to clear things up.As much as I would love an answer, I think that they pretty much don't know the exact time frame yet. Many issues can easily arise in something as complex as rebuilding a whole new system and transferring data through servers (not to mention applying the bulk of that transferred data to the new system). Giving themselves as much flexibility in an complex situation like this is probably the best way to ensure quality (as already stated by Yoshida).
So pretty much they can give a time frame to users and potentially fall short - causing much disappointment or keep users in the dark and advise of a time frame when they have something more concrete.
Either way someone will be disappointed.
We need you community reps!

Thanks Catapult![]()

The only way to clarify this is for Yoshida himself to come out and explain it.
I believe the charts more, but a lot of things he has said recently conflict a lot with it and only causing confusion. Not even the post Catapult showed clarified anything.
All the confusion has done is confuse people and put each other in a debate. You don't have to give dates Yoshida, just what is in store for the current PC base. If the chart you show is still legit, please confirm that. Go into detail what you meant in these charts.

Do you think it will still be possible to get Legacy status if the beta is pushed back to November? I paid for my first 30 days starting right at the end of July, which would mean I could pay September then hypothetically October to get 90 days paid for.
I know this is somewhat off-topic, but if that's the case I'm going to be hoping for a November beta launch![]()

"n order to fulfill the requirements for the Legacy Campaign, a player must register his/her copy of the game no later than Thursday, May 31, 2012, and have subscribed for a minimum of 90 days beyond the conclusion of your free trial period."Do you think it will still be possible to get Legacy status if the beta is pushed back to November?
