I have to disagree here. Ifrit and Garuda are just knock off FFXI BCNMs and to top it off I prefer the BCNMs than primal fights for the only reason that their drops were varied. I think SE needs to diversify primal drops, not their drop rate, but the actual items they drop. I liked the idea of Utsusemi Ni and craftable materials dropping from these instances, primal fights pretty much exclude crafters from the event. I would much rather see the primals drop craftable materias that can be made into NQ/HQ versions of the weapons. But i guess this is just another epic fail anti RMT measure huh?
They are that good better than 90% of the fights.
All the avatar fights in XI was the same thing. Ifrit and Garuda fight are knock offs of bcnm fights? You must be jesting cuz FF 11 don't even have a fight that's more interesting than batraal. It would be nice if they dropped body parts and you could craft those into DoL/H weps.I have to disagree here. I think people need to look at CoP without the rose-colored glasses...
I am all for CoP difficulty. I just hope they never make a storyline like that again.
It was like watching lord of the rings with just the sam and frodo parts.
Walk to Sandy, then go to bastok, then go to area fight an nm, then run back to bastok then back to Sandy, then head to Jeuno, just to see every cutscene say the same thing... "Prishe is the apocalypse bringer"...
Wings of the goddess was way better, you actually kick butt in those missions. Most people who disagree and say CoP was better than WotG, funny enough, quit before WotG came out.
The best moments I remember from FFXI were during the CoP period, I also loved the missions :3
What is it with people over using this term like it went out of style?
I'm not looking through Rose Color SHIT. I remember those hours I pumped into CoP. I remember the grueling fights, and the frustration of a failed Promy boss run. Having to shout and gathering expensive 1-time use items just to bring the fights down to beatable levels.
I know perfectly well how difficult CoP was and you know what? THAT IS WHY I LIKED IT!
ahhh another thread about ff11 lol. these never get old. In the other threads they most of the time talk about how good it was was CoP came out and.......... wait a minute...
*puts on rose colored pince nez*They are that good better than 90% of the fights.

I'm just saying these primal fights are getting boring for the fact that all three are the same. You engage fight, you have X amount of time / HP to bring the primal down to, then primal uses mega move that generally wipes party, SE makes an epic oversight that allows players to abuse exploit, people exploit epic oversight and get 7/7 weapons in one week, SE patches epicfail exploit, players who didn't abuse exploit or couldn't for lack of resources end up fighting content 100x longer than those who did, the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. Oh yeah, and here's another 7 almost useless weapons to clog up your inventory...
If SE had made the primals drop body parts that could be used as materials for weapons/armor that have a low % of HQ people would have more reason to do these fights. The fact is, instead of forcing a low drop rate to extend the lifespan of the fight, if these raw mats were craftable into HQ items then people would keep running these primals in hope of obtaining a HQ weapon. Crafters would be involved, and the economy would be that much better. But, what about RMT you say? Wouldn't they monopolize these items? Well, why not make these items untradable but craftable through an interface like materia/repair? Because it's too damn logical, that's why.
The only way they are going to be able to emulate this is if they were to increase the level cap greatly and have the new missions spread out at intervals throughout the new level range or cap the fights. Its really that simple. They can put the greatest story in the world into the game but its not going to mean crap if we can just blow through them like we do with all the current content. There is only so much difficulty they can continue to add when having to keep the current range of abilities each class at 50 in mind.
A large portion of the satisfaction that came from beating CoP and getting up to Sea and then finally fighting promathia came from the fact you were handicapped for 90% of the battles and knowing you overcame that adversity by working hard and dedicating yourself to clearing each fight.
And lets face it, once you got to the tenzin fight and you werent level restricted anymore everything else was pretty much a cakewalk. It was cool doing the final battle, and it was cool beating tenzin but it wasn't difficult by any means. Getting past the ultima and omega fight was the true point of accomplishment and everyone who played the game back before they removed the level cap knew it.
