And for the record, I did the dungeon just fine. I’m speaking up because others in the thread are being shut down for asking for reasonable options.

Accessibility isn’t about removing challenge its about offering help. Trusts already exist to help people play solo or at their own pace. Adding a limited raise mechanic wouldn’t break the game, nor would it affect you in the slightest. It would simply make the experience more forgiving for those who need it. There are plenty of stakes for you to enjoy regardless of whether SE adds more to Trusts or not.

Also, saying FFXIV “isn’t a visual novel” is objectively false. The game literally locks you out of content unless you’ve read through hours of dialogue. Entire patches consist of walking between NPCs to hear their thoughts. The MSQ is a visual novel with combat intermissions. Pretending otherwise is just denial.

No one’s twisting your words. I’m pointing out that your argument equates skill with worth, and that’s not how inclusive communities thrive. FFXIV is one of the most story-driven MMOs out there, with entire systems designed for casual and solo players. If you think that undermines its integrity, maybe you’re playing the wrong game.
No you are twisting my words. The game caters to a wide variety of people but normal dungeons is literally the easiest content and content shouldn't be made easier because some hypothetical people you made up might struggle.

The game is not a visual novel dispite your delusions. Yes it has a lot of story and dialogue but the bread and butter of any mmo is multilayer gameplay and the game play does not need to cater to people who don't want to try to improve on content that is 3 days old.

You die and try again there shouldn't be an easy mode so people don't have to learn.

You keep insisting I’m twisting your words, but I’m quoting them directly and responding to the logic behind them. You said content shouldn’t be made easier for “hypothetical people,” but those people aren’t hypothetical lol they’re real players in this thread and across the community who’ve expressed struggles with reflex-based mechanics, accessibility barriers, or simply wanting to enjoy the story without punishment.

Calling the game “not a visual novel” while admitting it has “a lot of story and dialogue” is just playing with words to avoid admitting what the game actually is. FFXIV is a visual novel for many players. The MSQ is mandatory. You can’t skip it. You literally have to read through hours of dialogue to progress. That’s not a delusion it’s the design of the game.

And saying “normal dungeons are the easiest content” doesn’t mean they’re easy for everyone. They’re easy for you. In the same vein, they can be hard for others. That’s the whole point of accessibility—not to remove challenge, but to offer options for different kinds of players. You don’t lose anything if someone else has a safety net. You still get your challenge, your stakes, your gameplay.

If you believe MMOs should only cater to people who “want to improve,” then you’re advocating for exclusion. That’s not a community its gate keeping. And frankly, you’re the one who seems to be struggling with the idea that a game can be both challenging and inclusive. If people want to do hard content, sure they’ll need to improve. But we’re talking about players who may only play this game for the story. And they’re just as valid as anyone.

No, you mean players care about the story more than the rest of the content.
FFXIV is not a visual novel, which is a game genre.
The game genre is a RPG/jRPG first and foremost.
I had to grind, level and gear my characters to be able to process through the story of all of the current main and side games.

People are trying to make the game fit their wants and needs, not playing the game for what the game offers.
I, for example, LOVE horror games and stories, I love mystery, thrill, the adrenaline. But, over the years I've realized I don't
enjoy the mutilation and gore fest that this genre has become. So what do I do? I watch a play through, sometimes with no commentary to avoid the yapping.
This way I can either close my eyes, or skip the gore-ish parts.
I do not go on thriller/horror games forums to complain about how much gore there is and that how that makes it unplayable to me.
Either I play the game, or I don't and move on. I do not try to morph another genre into one that suits my playstyle which is exactly what's happening here.
"I only care about the story, so make the rest easier or just remove altogether for the people who don't care". I mean, you can just watch someone else play it
if you absolutely cannot get past the content with the tools provided to you in game. If enough people stops playing, they will for sure address it, but this is not
really a difficulty problem, is people playing the wrong genre or not caring for certain type content at all.

It often comes back to "If you are only here for the story why are you playing?"
