Many people do not keep their sub on for 4+ months, they might not have that time to complete the pass. The fact that SE needed to add a reward system designed like this to increase participation is a clear sign that many people would not play PVP if no such reward were in place. I just finished a match where most of the blue team was a premade full of DRK and DRG, it wasn't fun to play, and this happens more than you would imagine. I would accept to have a season pass I have to grind that keeps me playing PVP, but it would have been better if PVP was fun in the first place.
If I end up playing something I find unbalanced and frustrating just to get rewards I would otherwise lose (we do not know if they are going to put these in the shop, none of them is in the shop so far) that could be defined fomo strategy IMHO.

I don't think I ever want to touch pvp with the amount of stalking and harassment in game that I've been though. I hate the elitist attitudes of these players that wear the same pvp glam day in and day out who get in my face when I mind my own business.
Right. I'd never play such a mode. It's your decision. Many people do not keep their sub on for 4+ months, they might not have that time to complete the pass. Stalking and harrasment? What are you smoking?
Pvp in everygame is adrenaline imbuded thing. If you cant handle your momma joke or a teabag - do not participate.
Every online action means interacting with other people and SURPRISE: Humans are mean and nasty creatures. Be that ingame or IRL.
And i dont think FF14 PvP has anything to upset even the most fragile soul. Worst that can happen is a jump on the corpse or similar. If THAT upsets you...
I can give you an example that only requires smoking American Spirits (yellow).Stalking and harrasment? What are you smoking?

My FC house has had multiple visits from PvPers who dislike my opinions. They arrive in small packs and shadow box anyone from my FC. Perfectly harmless, if a little ludicrous, right? Unfortunately, on one occasion they pulled this stunt on an FC member who has a RL stalker. She was extremely upset.
There's some pretty terrible people in community who are way more petty and way more extreme than what you're saying.Stalking and harrasment? What are you smoking?

of course, but right now my decision to play is driven by the fact that I'm afraid of missing a mount or a minion I like, so I force myself to play pvp to get them even if I don't find it fun. I don't know for sure, but I feel I'm not the only one who would never touch pvp if it wasn't for the season pass, and this is the saddest thing about pvp in this game.
My unpopular opinion: remove party queue in frontline and force people to queue solo. This lowers the chances of having premade parties and drastically reduces win-trading issues. Still SE needs to improve balancing and remove/rework the battle high buff.

I could understand your point of view to a degree, if it weren't that we would still end up with a certain number of solo players driven by some self-induced FOMO, whom by their own admission, don't enjoy the mode.of course, but right now my decision to play is driven by the fact that I'm afraid of missing a mount or a minion I like, so I force myself to play pvp to get them even if I don't find it fun. I could foresee an alliance where people run to the 4 corners of the map (under what you propose), and no one has a good time as a consequence. Whereas is small pre-made parties are allowed to join -even if it's cut down to 2- there's some small chance of coordination and cooperation. I would also hope that FL gets rebalanced.
Edit- the "what I foresee" is that PvP in this game is just side content aside for a dedicated minority, What you propose does work in games that are designed for PVP, and players are motivated/like/want to compete/engage in PvP.

You're certainly not alone (in either of those opinions). I think in general it is a bad idea to encourage people to play modes they don't like through any rewards system. My personal solution is simply not to play such modes, but apparently I'm much less impressed with the rewards offered than the bulk of the playerbase.of course, but right now my decision to play is driven by the fact that I'm afraid of missing a mount or a minion I like, so I force myself to play pvp to get them even if I don't find it fun.
