To extend an olive branch. If the DPS pulls the pack for the first time and the tank turns off tank stance and let's everyone wipe, he's being a childish ass. However, if you pull a second pack, and the tank takes them off you and says, hey please don't grab two we aren't W2W for X,Y,Z reason, if the dps does it again anyway, then that member of DPS is going to sit on the floor in a nice little time out, because I will wait till their ass dies before I take the aggro. That sound fair. Ultimately communicate and don't be a a jerk.

Literally what does the party or the tank win by the tank refusing to tank in any situation in dungeons?

    Walk me through it.

Some fucking petty ego victory letting the DPS die doesn't count btw.

The phrase is tit for tat, if you act like an ass to me, I will do it right back to you. Generally it's what keeps people honest, outside of sympathy and empathy. Also it's not refusing to take, it's refusing to save you, there's a difference, I'm still tanking group A and the second group B kills me I will pick is up so no one else suffers for you being a ass. Also benifit is I now have longer without being hit so I get some CD's back without losing health.

    So it's just ego.

No, that's not ego, it's a rational response to someone behaving in a hawkish manner.

You-Pull-You-Tank is never the correct response, the person with a blue icon that's designated as the tank, tanks, not whoever pulled. It's that simple.
Well the novice hall would disagree with you as it teaches tanks to pull, no one else. People are not your servants you don't get to unilaterally decide on the pace, if you want to do that, role tank or healer as they are the roles that set pace.

If you have been asked as per the example I gave, to not make the rest of the groups experience worse/harder/painful/unfun pick and adjective, and you intentionally do it anyway, for you own personal benefit at the cost of others, that's hawkish behaviour. Now the rest of hawk and dove plays out the way everyone else says, vote kick the problem person, aka doves eventually chasing out hawks. However I was suggesting tit for tat as a far quicker way of dealing with the problem, it causes no harm to the rest of the group only the person that instigates suffers, they leave on their own or stop behaving in such a way, the party doesn't have to wait as long to be rid of the behaviour.
