Pulling instead of the tank (in a random party) is quite rude tbh. A stranger can interpret you doing that in many different negatives ways.
How much are you really speeding it up? Your sprint is equally as fast as the tank, and your ranged skill is about the same distance as theirs. You're basically telling the tank "you're not doing a good enough job". The tank could also have specific reasons for going at a specific pace, such as either themselves or the healer lacking confidence.

Now "you pull you tank" is also not nice, as you inevitably let everyone get killed. The optimal thing to do is help kill the pack and leave - tanks have instant queues anyways - that would teach the DPS some patience, while waiting for a new tank.

In short, don't be rude and everyone wins! (Unless you're playing with friends, then griefing is kind of encouraged, lol)

Having tanked most of the game I cannot fucking see why, except unless you have less than paper thin ego. I'll do the exact same fucking thing I do whether someone pulls ahead of me or not.

What you detailed after that statement is imaginary fucking insults. Okay, so, a Dancer of whoever who loses a ton of damage if they don't burst before their timer goes out made sure the not lose the damage for the party, and used their movement tools to avoid that. Why the fuck should I think that's telling me I'm not doing a good enough job?

It's rude because if it's in the middle of a fight, which it normally is. As in, we are fighting pack A and the DPS runs off and tags pack B too, without a care to the tanks current rotation state CD's etc. Well imagine if you were in the middle of doing something and someone just dumped something on you goign here deal with this too, without asking you. You would find that rather rude generally. Personally I play by the principle of, if you do that, I will get it off you when I'm now ready, I wont go out of my way to save you or put us at risk of wipe because you decided to pull extra, your HP is currently my mitigation bar. I don't agree with anyone wiping the whole group by refusing to press buttons, that is childish, but I'm also not you damn servant, if you wanna play stupid games I'll let you die to them, the rest of the group will be just fine.

I'm guessing you never played a Drk when you said you tanked. In the current state of Drks, in a expert. if my mits are on CD and the healer isn't very good (aka the reason we are not W2W pulling) Then I will die from a second group coming into the fight. So yeah I'll just let you get hit till I've got a couple of CD's I can use to keep me alive then I'll pick them up.

Now if we are W2W pulling from the get go it's a whole different story, my mit will be used on the whole group at once, our DPS burst will be used on all at once so overall I'll take alot less damage than if you add a pack to the fight mid way through. See the difference.

How often has this actually happened tho? DRK was the second job I levelled in DT and I didn't have a single issue double pulling as a DRK (and it's more fun than on GNB imo)

That's kinda the point though. Why wouldn't you be wall pulling from the start? It uses less mitigation tools, DPS are more likely to actually use their burst and cooldown abilities (sorry the leylines don't go down for single packs), and it stretches healer resources less. This all on top of just being faster.

Sounds more like you are trying to downplay DRK effectiveness in expert as an excuse for yourself.

If you use your mit appropriately you will survive w2w in expert, it ain't hard.

If someone rushes ahead and pulls while its my first run of the instance, you're tanking it. I'm trying to have a good time, not feeling the pressure of someone that wants it finished as fast as possible. And it's not only a tank thing.
If I'm healing and a dps is being an ass and dies, I'm not resing you.

Well you've set your main class to BLM, so I call BS. Also dungeons don't have a main tank, you only ever have 1 tank in a dungeon.
