Before StB introduced "Mastery" traits, Aero 2 was indeed a separate DoT with higher potency, but shorter duration. And you could stack both Aero and Aero 2.

I wanted SE to rework fluid aura, not remove it. It didn’t make sense that WHM did not have a proper Water DPS spell.Aero gets upgraded to to Aero 2 at level 46, through the Aero Mastery trait.
Then Aero 2 gets upgraded to Dia at level 72, through the Aero Mastery 2 trait.
Aero/Aero2 duration was a bit lower in the past. I think 18 seconds, but that is from memory. But it's been 30 seconds for years now.
The separate Aero was Aero 3, you could stack Aero 2 with 3.
And yes, Glare spam is an issue. But the 1 extra DoT (Aero 3) we had in the past wouldn't fix that either. And Fluid Aura was hardly ever used, I don't miss that at all. The fix to WHM dps rotations isn't found in the past as far as I'm concerned.
Y’shtola had one. And she’s a BLM.
I’d like Dia to have a chance to proc into Glare IV, like how BLM’s old Thunder proc worked. I think that should help the one button spam a little bit.
Alternatively, you can turn Glare IV into a separate GCD with a 15 to 20 second CD. Aero / Dia’s DoT timer can decrease to a 15 to 20 second range.
Please make healers more engaging to play... They are not enjoyable nor do healers want to play them in DF and PUGs because they're all so mind numbingly boring. Every healer has also been streamlined to play the same way, there's very little need to use our GCD heals like Medica2, Aspected Helios, and even Succor when every healer has a massive oGCD healing kit (Sage especially).
#FFXIVHEALERSTRIKE
If only so this game gets less and less Casual, because it is far, far beyond "Casual" at this point. I want harder day-to-day content that I can just queue into, not find 7 or so other people after waiting 3 hours in PF (and lord knows if I'll even be able to put up with them) to do just like One Fight. Also because Rekindle (and Lux Solaris, when 7.0 hits) are utterly extraneous, and why does SMN still have Physick?
Thank you all for doing this. Your sacrifices mean that it's far less likely to get terrible healers in DF in Dawntrail. Finally the forum people are doing something useful.
Would it be a stretch to say that this "strike" has been ongoing for a few years now? In the dutyfinder, healer is consistently the bottleneck for a queue popping. Bring a tank and your dps? Sit and wait for the heals. Bring a healer? Pops instantly. Hell, you can probably open PF right now and see multiple groups just waiting for someone to come and babysit them while they fumble their way through mechanics that are multiple-years-old at this point. Nobody has wanted to do this job for a long ass time. Only real difference I can see, is lately you get other roles saying they don't need healers either. And then those same people still die in casual content and need a RDM to res them.
The truly disheartening thing about all this is hoping that less people healing will mean the devs see the metrics and respond to it. Except... through endwalker, healing was the role that kept filling last because everyone hated doing it, and dawntrail was their response to that frustration. I don't think the developers care about how the players feel on this topic. There is no way they don't know. It's not a communication issue at this point. I seriously think that for this specific case, they've heard our frustration and just don't want to roll with it. If anything, they'll see less people healing and think they need to dumb the role down even more to get people to try it again. That's what they did to AST, anyway. Totally ruined my favorite job over multiple expansions until I quit it along with loads of other people, and now look at how they're doing it, removing even more from the job and making it even dumber. I have 0 hope things will get better. Been saying it since shb. It's why I went from playing healer almost exclusively to branching out and enjoying other roles a hell of a lot more. Your average player loves being able to just mash 1 button while watching anime on another screen, and your typical dutyfinder bro will get hit by so much stuff that the excessive healing kits will actually be necessary to keep his dumb ass alive. It all works out. This is probably how the developers' thought process goes.

Well, mmo-population is complete bunk anyways because their determination is Reddit with a magical number that randomly changes.According to https://mmo-population.com/r/ffxiv FFXIV has 55m accounts but 550k daily active players soooo 161 upvotes is a extremely small portion of the playerbase.
according to https://activeplayer.io/final-fantasy-xiv/ there are 17m active accounts currently, something needs to be done but these numbers supporting it need to either be pumped up or the playerbase numbers needs to dwindle rapidly ie cancel accounts.
And if anything from the forums actually does get added or addressed in the game the XIV Devs "gave in to the toxic whiners." Lol.The forums in a nutshell:
When we say we want healers to be designed better, people tell us that we should just not play healers because they're not designed for us.
Then when we say "Ok, we'll stop playing healers", people tell us that we're being toxic to the other players by not filling the queues as a healer.
Funny stuff.
You might be thinking of how there used to be an AoE version of Aero (I don't recall the exact name of the spell, it might have been Aero II). You couldn't stack the DoT's with your own single-target Aero, though; it functioned similarly to BLM's Thunder in that way.
Isn't this what 99% of you self-titled "god-tier healers" do when other people state they like how healers currently are? Just above were people doing that to the JP players lmao. There is a chance that you're speaking to the new healer mains on JP who jumped on the boat precisely because it's easy.
I play on JP and this is just my anecdote, but I have noticed some of the good JP healers I've cohealed with in SB are now playing DPS/tanks in PF. It's possible that their good healers quit the role much earlier than some here and the replacements are the people you see posting now.
Ah yes, the forum classic of "These people don't like what I like, time to mock and insult them and tell them they don't matter". What a wonderful community we have indeed.
