That's fair. Aion Clerics were on the OP side for sure. But XIV Healers feel on the verge of pointless for a lot of content. I feel almost no skill expression 99% of my gameplay time.actively sought after in Aion = fantastic gaming experience for a cleric, however horrible experience for any other class without a static cleric, any guilds trying to keep their clerics, any parties trying to find clerics especially for time-sensitive content (sieges, dredge, anything) .
I would be happy with a middle ground where we move from FFXIV healers are dead weight/ tolerated as necessary to treated as equal to other jobs.
I keep seeing WoW referenced. WoW apparently has the same issue. https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wo...thin/1873478/7
You have my support. As a SGE Main, I will be striking starting the 14th and will not be using healer roles in ANY content. I have plenty of ways of playing solo or with friends so not need to worry about my game experience. Maybe with exceptionally long queue times that players hopefully talk about, it makes SE realize "oh wait, people don't want to play this role??? why???".
Hopefully I can SGE with some groups here soon, until then~~
Thank you for creating this thread.
Now before I begin, personally I love this game, the story, the world and community are unique and a strong part of what keeps me enthralled.
However, at the same time it is disheartening to read how some players in the community who perhaps main tanks are so swift to dismiss the grievances of a significant portion of the player base and labeling it as "simply having a whine" is unctuous facile.
The issues faced by healers in FFXIV are glaringly obvious even to a novice player such as me. I observed how low the skill floor is when it comes to healing in FFXIV. There is simply too much homogenization between all four healers.
Sure, as a WHM you can pump out high HPS and as a SGE or SCH you can be excellent at proactive mitigation.
The way healers play seems clumsy or hurriedly put together with so much unnecessary button bloat. There is no real rotation - you spam 1 as your basic attack spell, hit 2 for the dot every 30 second and then throw out a heal or barrier.
The toolkit lacks synergy especially when you examine WHM – why is free cure still a thing? Why must we have 3 different buttons for what does a single target heal? Why shouldn’t the same button be updated with II and II with the added benefit as you level up / or to suit content?
Staying with WHM which begins its journey as a conjurer – someone who invokes the powers of the elementals to maim and mend - by the time you level to 90, you notice that your only elemental based spells are a dot, stone and maybe benison if you consider the name and the water animation.
Why not dispense with the pretense of WHM being a “pure healer” and returning it to its elementalist roots?
Another issue is that the level of outgoing damage you need to heal in content is just too low and heavily scripted which means it is completely avoidable.
There seems to be as every run is a mad dash from wall to wall with no thought or no need for crowd control despite "sleep" being in our role action bar. Most mobs stop auto attacking when casting abilities which are completely avoidable and frankly trivialize the risk of mob pulls and leave healers within nothing to do but spam 1 repeatedly.
Healing throughput is too strong (I know this sounds counterintuitive) but that is how it feels to me.
Add to this the potential for non-healers to have some off healing or in the case of certain jobs extremely effective sustained self-healing which is analogous rendering a healer redundant in the party.
TLDR: The Healer strike is entirely justified.

This is still going on? You do realise your strike is rendered moot entirely by the trust system right?
And then also people who don't frequent forums at all will be there for the trials.

If you think its pointless, why are you here?
No one here actually thinks that doing this strike will grind the game to a screeching halt come dawntrail. You're welcome to do trusts, please, go ahead and tell me just how much fun those are. As for the trials... Of course you will find healer players, or people changing to healer for the quick queues (assuming they've been doing the msq as them...)... But queues will be very long for DPS.
This isn't about 'punishing people for playing the game', it's about sending a message to the devs that a lot of people who have stuck with this role for a very long time are unsatisfied with the game and are willing to take action over it. You can sit here and smugly point out how people will find queues and clear content anyways, but we already know that. It's not the point.
But go ahead, feel free to stick around and continue being rude and dismissive for no reason. Does it make you feel better about yourself?
I gave AST a shot, and it's still miserable to play, even to think about. Worst iteration by far. Praying for 8.0, I guess...
Please quantify what, in your opinion, constitutes "a lot of people," out of a player base of millions of subscribers and an estimated half a million daily users.
Personally, I think less than 1% of either of those numbers (e.g. less than 5000 people) doesn't count as "a lot:" ordinary variations in weather probably make a bigger difference in the number of healers queuing for duties.
And if the effect of your "strike" is less than the effect of the weather, why would SE even notice?
I have 6 EoC characters, all SGE main, all iL640 or better. I had been planning to initially just level one SGE when DT launches, but with the opportunity this "strike" is presenting for faster green queue pops, I'll probably do my roulettes on all 6. So, thanks!

The great community that harasses new players if they don't follow the rules of discord servers they are unaware of and are toxic to anyone who ever has a criticism of their comfort game? Lol.

Truely the greated most friendly playerbase in an MMO.How to not get reported and/or harassed:
1. Only talk about in-game topics, nothing irl.
2. Do not criticize anyone.
3. If someone is playing poorly, silently leave. Do not announce the reason.
4. Don't lose your temper. Immediately blacklist any player who makes you angry.
5. This one may be controversial but I'll say it anyway because it's true. You can't make enemies if you don't make friends. Most drama comes from players who already know you so staying anonymous has its perks.
6. Stay out of Novice Network. It will help you with points 2, 4 and 5.
7. Make your own fc and only play with like-minded people. People cannot control your access to fc features by spreading rumors about you if you are the leader.
After a 20 day ban the next one may be permanent so you might want to be careful.
Where one can get reported and/or harassed when trying to make friends but suprise, it was an enemy.
Or when trying to help others when they do something wrong but they find it offensive and criticising that someone dares to tell them what to do.
Where one can't interact with players who doesn't share the same mindset otherwise they might find something offensive and reports your ass.

Yeah this community is the worst, when we returned to the game my husband joined the novice network to ask questions and when he accidentally left his chatbox open once and put 113244 in chat the so called mentors lost their sh*t and threatened to boot him from the network, all this is showing is the same sort of power trip.Truely the greated most friendly playerbase in an MMO.
