PL Woes

weeks? when was the last time you leveled a class?

it takes a few hours to go from 40-50 and that is over 50% of your sp needed to cap a class from scratch.

Incase you didn't know, you don't often get to do chain 5+ while soloing or duoing. Getting leves requires either tons of spare anima, or running around not getting any experience. Experience rewarded per mob kill also goes up every 10 levels, so that at level 30+ you're getting more experience per mob than you were at level 10-20.

40-50 is also done in a group setting and can be done with people that are level and gear capped without taking a toll on your earned experience. You have almost your entire arsenal of skills at your disposal, and the ratio of damage you do compared to a monster's health is large. 1-30 is done solo, with rags for gear, and with limited skills and combos. Monsters die slower because you do less damage, and a single death will set you back anywhere from 5 minutes of lost time to 30+ if you forgot to set your homepoint.

If you're just looking at the amount of exp needed to get from level to level without factoring in the other dozens of variables that affect leveling speed, you're dumb.

It is the mindset like this that frightens me. When I had to take my PUG to 15 for my WHM know what I did? I grab some leves, went out to the camp and started inviting every single person I saw. /tell'd them if they wanted a PT and grew up my group to 8/8 inside of 20 minutes. Continued with those same people all the way to 15 nearly 2 hours later.

There are people in down who /shout their jobs and ask for PL's. I tell them why not looking for a Party instead of sitting around wasting time spamming the chat? They had no idea they could use the search function. Flag people who are already in PT around their range and ask if they needed reps soon. It is this fast easy effortless PLing that has gone rampant that has denied new players motivation to LEARN how to get better. I never wait around for stuff to just fall in my lap. I get the ball rolling, explore all my options, and make it happen. I do this because in FFXI if you did nothing but wait for experience you sat in Jueno for 3 hours.

Personal assertiveness is lacking in this game and you are presenting it in true form. I don't even hate you now. It is clear that you are actually just lacking experience and the knowledge you would have gained if you were forced to level the "hard" way. Tools and mindsets that help you through the entire career of the game.

i used the search feature to find a party all the time, asking if people had room soon. The last time i did it i wound up in a PL that PL me to 45, go figure.
