Replace someone in PT because they don't have the slightest clue what they are doing?

So unless I just happily accept how everyone does things and never call out anyone ever no matter how bad or inexperienced they may be I am the bad guy? Tell ya what, if that is the case I am a douche and proud of it. I could have blasted him Party chat and kicked him from groupthat instant. Instead I investigated discreetly. I handled his transport by taking him back to Ul'dahn with me. I didn't scream and bitch about him not telling me about his lack of experience. There wasn't a friendly way I could have handled the situation. Aside form leaving him in PT and going OH WELP I SUPPOSE UR NEW SO IF WE WIPE WATEVES.

no, coming to the forums QQing, blaming PLing (lumping any PLer in the same group), displaying the trash talk and complete arrogance of your actions all because of a random player in a pick up group of all things (a fail one at that since esuna caused you to fail) = douche

Yeah I kinda noticed that about him, he seems to be in the generation of gamers that considers anyone who hates the easy way out of things a douche, asshole or elitist.

    Guys.. guys... guys...

This thread was answered and finished the moment it was established that removing PL wouldn't remove bad Lv 50 players.

I have a hard time understanding what some of you are reaaally asking here. . . . As I see it, you want people to feel as committed to their class as you are, and as a product of that be good on their classes/jobs, which eventually leads to avoiding frustration in end-game pick up groups. If that really is the case, it's completely unrealistic expectations. Might be -right- of you to expect that, but unrealistic none the less. The first reason being, some people just don't care.

And in random groups. . . . More often than not, even skilled players might end up making mistakes cause not everyone's accustomed to each others' play style.

If it were by your standards I would have never helped or partied with some of my friends who aren't as skilled. And guess what, I didn't blow a fuse and actually didn't mind dying and wiping numerous times till the group made it. Eventually they learned and I had fun hanging out with them. I also made good friends in some of the catastrophic pick up groups that I've been in.

What if THIS is how Yoshida wants it and it won't change? Does that mean some of you will take your own advice and leave? I distinctly remember him saying he's not bothered by the PL as long as it's not abused. I'm inclined to believe that them not doing anything about it means they're still ok with it, else it would be gone with a hotfix, just like the early PL was (while lv1 could party with lv50 and still get exp).

Live and let live. Party up with players you know that are good on their jobs or be prepared to take the blame whenever you make a random group with the 'bestest' players out there. What it's starting to look like is that you're trying to tell people how they should enjoy a game - so that you will have an easier time. Or did some bad player get a good drop on their 1st run while a skilled one hasn't on their 50th?

People need to understand why power leveling and the speed of leveling are the way they are in 1.x.

Yoshida has said that he wants new players in 1.x to quickly catch up to friends and to be able to enjoy one-time content. And that things will slow down in 2.0.

The "level to learn your job" is a moot point when every few months drastic changes are made that render us all "newbs" all over again.

I leveled my Conjurer to 50 prior to 1.20, but haven't really touched it since. If I were to play it now, I'd have no clue how to do it. That is, until I read the ability descriptions.

Bad players will always be bad players. All it takes to play a class/job functionally in XIV is the ability to read. If someone can't be bothered to do that, no amount of time spent grinding exp will change them.

I've said it once and I'll say it again : if you really, truly believe that long grind creates better players you are more than welcome to remove all your armor, slap on a level 1 weapon, and take on that masochistic leveling regimen to improve yourself.

But no, because I shouldn't have to because good gear and weapons are part of the game!

(Yes, but so is pling. And yes, it's an intended part of the game right now just as much as gear.)

But making leveling a slow, tedious painful process doesn't stop bad players/idiots from reaching level cap. It may slow them down slightly by like a day or two, but the people who will end up leaving are good players who just don't want to spend 12 hours a day for 5 months grinding to hit cap on one class.

I don't disagree with this. Although I think it's a statement that does not necessarily have to apply to powerleveling, but rather leveling speed in general.

Honestly, I don't have a strong opinion either way on this one. I don't necessarily hate PL, especially I can see the desire for 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. jobs that a person is leveling. But I also don't really like the way it works specifically in this game, at this time. The way the powerleveler drops party then kills the mobs, seems more like a faulty game mechanic than anything else.

There will always be a selection of poor players, because there always is. The problem is that the pool of poor players in XIV is becoming higher due to this out of hand PL. Every single time I see a /shout for Ifrit/Moogle or god forbid Cutter's Cry. I shutter a little on the inside because I know that group is screwed.

Of course that doesn't mean everyone who PLs doesn't know their class though. I personally was forced to level BLM to run Cutter's Cry about 3 weeks ago, and i've gotten several compliments on how well I do at it. It just really depends on the player, but I do agree that for 2.0 I would like to see PLing disappear to a healing role only.

But PL doesn't create bad players. Players who lack any motivation to be good at their role will always be bad players, no matter what. Good players are people who do want to be good/better at their role and work toward that goal. It has nothing to do with how the levels are achieved, it has everything to do with how much motivation that player has to not suck at the game.
