Where? Every time someone complained about relics being grindy there will be a comment saying that's the point and ratios the original thread.
Complaining about relics being grindy was always the MINORITY opinion.

I'm a bit mad progression is locked behind Manderville quests because I found all the stories incredibly dull aside from the Heavensward ones and I save them to casually go through. Relic grinds are one of my favourite things to do and now I have to cutscene skip a bunch of quests and thats it.

Everyone has their own opinion on this. But for me at least, this is just garbage, lazy design. I've completed multiple of all expansions relics and this is by far my least favourite.... by a large margin.
CBU3 has been operating on tight budgets with both FF14 and FF16, so tight they can't even add fishing in FF16. Or maybe they wasted the budgets for new OCE and NA Data Centers.
People complained too much about Eureka and Bozja. This is the inevitable result. The past few expansions, we’ve had quests and lengthy areas to play in to obtain relics - whether it be ARR/HW Crafting, SB Eureka, ShB Bozja, or any of the steps that involve replaying old content - it’s nowhere to be found with this relic. All it is is a glorified Tomestone grind. 4500 Tomestone and you have your relic for the expansion.
At the very least, I expected SOME modicum of effort to be put into this final step, but woe is the man who expects anything from the past two HILDIBRAND patches. Yes, they can be funny and you have to go through a lot of old stuff - but it isn’t that long in comparison to other relics.
For 7.0 relic, they need to bring back the grind.
I'm personally hoping for another Eureka/Bozja in 7.X. If nothing else, it's something to spend time with and have a social experience with people out "in the world" (or something akin to it), which I miss in this game; love FFXIV but open world content is one thing it needs more of.
That said...people have been saying this since the first step. It wasn't new and fresh commentary when they did it with the second, and everyone knew they were going to do it with the third (or suspected), so this topic has been done to death.
Understand, I AGREE. As someone who has 3 (working on 4) ARR Relics, something like 7 HW ones (if not more; WHM, SCH, AST, SMN, MCH, PLD, WAR I can think off-hand...), 4 (working on 5) SB ones, 7 or 8 ShB ones, and enough materials of both the first two steps to get LITERALLY ever Job's when I ever get around to leveling them to 90 (and have the ones for every Job I DO have at 90 other than the latest step, of which I have 1 since I detoured after that to working on BLU)...
...I 100% love the grinds and exploration stuff and even ARR had people out in the world doing FATEs and dungeons and stuff. I very much WANT there to be more than this.
But I'm getting tired of seeing the same topic over and over again. Everyone gets it. There are dozens of threads about it. Bump/necroing those would probably be better than posting a few DOZEN more every new X.Y5 patch to complain more about what we're already all aware sucks.

People complain about everything, as in, some people complain about this, while others complain about that.
There's likely no way to know for sure, but I would love to know the numbers on what different people enjoy when it comes to this content.
A survey conducted by SE would likely shed some light on it. But you know, that'll never happen.
I dont mind it being a tome grind.
Just kinda wish the latest upgrade was.... an upgrade on Tomestone weapons rather than a notable downgrade.

Luckybancho data exists and its around 5-6% of players per datacenter that actually completed eureka and finished baldession arsonal.
Sadly it is what it is, Eureka was the last great piece of 'MMO' content the game got that was worth the time investment. To me Eureka will always be the best piece of content this game has ever produced, and that may just be because i'm in my 30s and grew up playing grindy MMO's like Tibia. Gamers today don't want to play games, they just want to get rewarded everything for free.

I wouldn’t use BA completion rates as a measure of retention of eureka, BA is both an extreme and completely unintuitive how it’s supposed to work unless you work in a discord with a host that explains everythingLuckybancho data exists and its around 5-6% of players per datacenter that actually completed eureka and finished baldession arsonal.

I would say people who reached hydatos is a good measure considering if you didn’t like eureka and bounced off it immediately you very very unlikely to go past pagos

Designing Pagos specifically to kill the group trains that kept people going in Anemos probably didn't help completion rates either.
