The grind is boring and therefore does not have to return.

There seems to be this idea that this round of relics allows players an incredible amount of freedom in how they obtain materials for it, when the reality is you have to run a very narrow set of things in order to obtain the correct tomes, all of it EW content. It really isn't that different than in the past when specific dungeons were required to obtain light or whatever we were grinding. The difference here is that those past relics had different steps that either require different dungeons or required interactions with FATEs or other content, it wasn't all a dungeon grind beginning to end. This entire run has had us doing the same things since it's first step. Even Eureka and Bozja had us move into other zones providing a change of scenery during our time there.

These relics feel like the devs were obligated to put a relic in somewhere and just tacked it on to Hildebrand because, eh, why not. Even as someone who likes Hildy, they don't make a lot of sense.
I get both sides of this argument and while you aren't wrong I can understand why they did it. I think they need to have a half way point, no anima light farming/ book nonsense but yeah this is a bit dull. Perhapps they need to take an extended leaf out of the Bozja relics, make the mega grinds inside the once-only sections of the question chain. So the first relic is brutal but the successive relics are much easier. HW relic grind for 19 classes is a bit too much. The past few expansions, we’ve had quests and lengthy areas to play in to obtain relics - whether it be ARR/HW Crafting, SB Eureka, ShB Bozja, or any of the steps that involve replaying old content - it’s nowhere to be found with this relic. All it is is a glorified Tomestone grind. 4500 Tomestone and you have your relic for the expansion.
At the very least, I expected SOME modicum of effort to be put into this final step, but woe is the man who expects anything from the past two HILDIBRAND patches. Yes, they can be funny and you have to go through a lot of old stuff - but it isn’t that long in comparison to other relics.
For 7.0 relic, they need to bring back the grind.

I get the complaint about relics... but in reality how different has it been.. really... outside of SB where we had Eureka?
Many relic steps in other expansions involve running older content to obtain a token, fulfill a quest requirement or earn uncapped tomestones to purchase a token.
In ARR: earn uncapped tomestones to get Atma books - do lots of dated content while earning no experience. Run dungeons for lights often gaining no other benefit.
In HW: earn uncapped tomestones to buy various tokens. Alternatively, some of these tokens doing content like tribal quests. Run dungeons for lighunts often gaining no other benefit.
In SB: unique
In ShB: complete Bozja and then can ignore pretty much all of it and earn Memories (tokens) by doing specific content (alliance raids for example). Essentially... run specific dungeons to progress it.
In EW: Run dungeons to earn tomestones. Instead of trading tomes for 3-5 different types of tokens, you can earn tomestones in various forms (dungeons, raids, PvP, hunts, etc).
My point is... whether we are doing specific old content like alliance raids or specific dungeons to move the quest forward... or running other content to simply purchase a token... what is the difference?
ShB Relics gave people alternatives from grinding inside Bozja but it was still there.
Those 60 Memories? I'm going to join Cluster Farms inside the Southern Front and get memories while grinding for other rewards like the Math Bot mount
Bitter Memories? I'll fight around Bozja and get them doing that
Loathsome Memories? I'll get from Critical Engagements and also from Castrum Lacus Litore as I aimed for more free Haste Gear upgrades
Haunting and Vex memories? This is a step that forced you outside of Bozja since only Fates and Alliance Raids were able to drop it. But the quest only needed to be completed 1 time for the 17 relics, so it's fine.
Timeworn Artifacts? Delubrum Reginae
Spare Parts, Tell me a Story, and Fond Memeory Quests? Do stuff around Zadnor and it was a 1 time quest for all the relics.
Raw Emotions? Dalriada and Delubrum Reginae
After listening to the complaints of tying the relic to Eureka, the team seems to have decided to give players an alternative grind outside this time for them, but even then people just complained. This isn't learning from past relics or even trying something new, it's plainly "we couldn't be bothered this expansion" and people are okay with this because they don't want to be inconvenienced

They did it.. they actually did it. It's just tomestones again..
Well.. at least I can get a bunch of them without thinking too much about it, I suppose.
brb I'm eating some stuff I said a few months ago. I'm frying them with butter, a pinch of salt and some vegies to go with.

They told in advance that they won't change the relic progression. Why are you surprised about it now?
But anyway, here's a relic preview of all jobs:

Yoshi being vague made me hope they'd do anything other than tomes. Light farming, or something. I originally said it was too early to judge in the previous step, but as I said in this thread: I'm eating all those words now. Just a shame, but I've got nothing else really. Taking the L, eating my words, "losing the argument" or whatever you wanna call it, yeah, I'm okay taking it.They told in advance that they won't change the relic progression. People on the forums and acting like declaring there is less content in the game in both a good thing and a gotchaYoshi being vague made me hope they'd do anything other than tomes.
