Those other MMOs are not story Focused as FFXIV is.
Im not talking down or bad on them, just stating they are very different Games from FFXIV.

But we are talking about MMOs here. Comparing FFXIV an MMO to FFX like Stormpeaks did is not really a good comparison. They are 2 completely different games.
1 is literally a singleplayer JRPG, the other is an MMO. Both are games, but not also function differently. Same thing if you were to bring in WoW, or Star Wars.
They are just different games.



In case you didnt know...FFXIV is also played Via their own launcher, and on Consoles such as PS4 & PS5.
So unless Steamchats somehow factors in those players, no, Steam is not the main Metric to base FFXIVs playerbase on.

The point is story engagement, one story is engaging (FFX) and one is not (FFXIV)

Also yes, it is a good metric, its a sample of a certain percentage of the population, it gives a trend as to if a game is doing good or not.

You could just link the https://activeplayer.io/final-fantasy-xiv/ and compare it to other games, that is enough to show that the population of XIV is much smaller than people realize. And yes this website takes steam and standalone XIV into consideration.

You could even hurt the XIV white knight ego even more by letting them know that destiny 2 has a higher DAILY active player count than XIV.

Those stats are pretty surprising. The monthly average in players has more or less steadily increased since the endwalker launch. Four months ago the daily average took a sharp dive but the monthly average is seemingly unaffected by that. Also what happened in september 2020?

I heavily doubt those stats are real, they count WoW as having half the monthly players of FFXIV, and half the active players of FFXIV, that's a bit of stretch

Yea, I also expected the endwalker release to have a much higher spike (one that you can very clearly see on steam charts) but on the ones dixiebell linked it's just business as usual mostly.
