The current state of the "MMORPG" FFXIV is unsustainable. Here's why

I agree that FFXIV is getting really boring. For me it started with Shadowbringers. I never did any breaks until Shadowbringers. I still want to paly this Game, but everytime i Log in i'm not sure what to do and log off again. There is no Content for players who actually play this Game a lot. And with a lot i mean almost every day after work for like 4-6 hours.
No i'm not burned out, but bored of the Content. I think, FFXIV stays alive for a few more years, but it will lose a lot of active players and with that a lot of quality. Without the players, who are able to carry the weak, the Content will become easier and even more boring. In the End FFXIV will be laughed at and no longer taken seriously as a top MMORPG which results in fewer players overall.

Are you new to FF14 because everything you described has existed for 9 years, this game content patch is predictable and almost never changed, yet the game continues to increase player count yr/yr. The only difference why people are crying is because Relics is a turn in with 1500 tomestomes instead of mindless grind in new Zone or light farming lol....

My static and I currently on break from game because our main content is raiding, we get bis than play casual hours, I do crafting too. We all know the game cycle and always return full time during raids. Some of us play lost ark for the grind/will play D4. We all know 14 does not have grinding and we accepted that so play other games during content lows. Either accept that reality from this game or just unsub. I have know this for almost 10 years...game is not going to change in a MAJOR way.

You can never avoid burnout. It happens to every single one of us whom constantly play this game specifically and the solution is to add more lasting activities?

If it becomes a required chore to do x number of tasks weekly, monthly I dont think many people will jell well with that design. Its what we criticized other MMOs for holding you by the throat, and now we want that in FFXIV when it never was like this? (Yes even exploratory zones werent long lasting)

Very good point. Since Shadowbringers, people thought that FFXIV was “the next big MMO” that would replace WoW. So they unsubbed from WoW, uninstalled their other games, and flocked to FFXIV in droves. Problem is, those are big shoes to fill. FFXIV was NEVER meant to be someone’s “main game”. It’s a side game. You play it on the weekends or for an hour or two during patch season. Then you unsub for the rest of the year. That’s how most people have played FFXIV for the past ten years, which is why it’s only the #3 or #4 most-played MMO. And a lot of people LOVE that.

I think everyone here should try out Lost Ark as you have, or give Dragonflight a fair chance. As you implied, FFXIV just isn’t all that it’s hyped up to be. It’s best to unsubscribe. This company is not Blizzard or Smilegate and we shouldn’t expect that level of commitment. Come on, they care more about NFTs anyway. This is how FFXIV is supposed to be. FFXIV is more like Cookie Clicker than it is like Lost Ark or WoW, and many of us appreciate that.

Not at all. I'm just pointing out that a comment like yours of "bad" is entirely your own personal subjective opinion, not any magical objective fact, and that it conflicts with the overwhelming majority of the actual playerbase's opinion. The closest thing any of us can come to claiming an objective "fact" here would be discussing the main target audience as casual gamers, which there is a veritable mountain of support to show.

People like me aren't "afraid" of change; we just don't want to see a game that hundreds of thousands of people really enjoy get ruined for all of us because a select few elitists want the game to cater to them instead.

So you are in the side of the game had been changed to your liking.
You say why should the game be ruined by others, the game has been made for the worse by your lot of complaining in the first place.

The lack of exploratory zone is something I would personally call a good thing. Bozja and Eureka were not future proofed and can be difficult/impossible to progress in depending on your world/DC.

Maybe if they actually updated this content instead of dropping it like its hot at the end of the expansion it was released in, maybe it would be move active :P. Can't wait for Island Sanctuary to get 0 updates after 6.5 >.>

You ... do realize the irony of this logic, don't you? Seem the main complain is "the game is worse than it ever was" for whatever reason, so if the reason it gets to this point is because of people complaining ... Does this mean you complainers only have yourself to blame for the very thing you're complaining about now?

Except by "mess" you mean "a ton of casual gamers absolutely enjoying the game and giving it the highest playerbase ever while the select few wannabe hardcore gamers throw temper tantrums that a game always designed for casual gamers is continuing that trend." There's no "mess" here - there's just playing a game intended for a different audience and complaining that it's not changing its very nature to suit you personally.

Casuals are casuals, they pick one game, mess around a little and leave to the next flavor of the month, same in FFXIV casuals complete the current patch and move on.

I haven't even gotten out of bed yet... It's still early morning west coast. And the story mode only requires a single completion. I haven't gotten it in trial roulette since the first week, since most have already done the story.




Also, if you are trying to use server time to prove a point... That's utc +0, so....
