So I can honestly say.. most people aren't going out of their way to exclude lalas from groups and things that I've seen in the ~10 years I've played this game...

That's quite a long time being a Lv50 Pugilist for 10 years...

And as great as you claim the community to be, you then call a race wingless moogles. Guess the gloves are off and we can talk about Lore that the community loves to abide to so muich. Then by lore Miqo'tes are race known to be prostitutes for Lalafells... canonically even.



According to Lore that is... cause they are if you wanna go visit Costa del Sol. Unless of course you view Lalafell as a child not according to Lore and ignore Yoshi P's own words in his interview btw, which means you're a race? known for prostituting for a ...child? And if that's the logical direction we're going for then... (wtf!?)

Heck if you wanna go really far with it on the RP route? go to Balmung Ul'Dah and guess what NPC's are there while everyone does their NSFW thing's specially at the Adventurer's Guild... Momodi Modi anyone? while everyone blows each other off haha hey if players view Lalafells there also as children among all that adult activity I mean...

So... I decided to check this thread because I was told about this item by a friend and honestly, it annoyed me. Frankly, that's not an easy thing to do with housing items of all things but, alas, here I am, checking all the responses and I stumble upon this "gem":

Imagine picking a character that's made fun of for appearing like a child when it was the developer's first intention. If you don't like having a character being teased for being a 'child' then don't pick a race that is intentionally for that. Sorry but not sorry.

Oh, sure, as if I came in knowing lalafell players were constantly bullied for wanting to play a short race. But sorry, I guess I'm the problem because I decided to stick to my choice in race.
I swear, when I started, my options were miqo'te female, au ra female and lalafell female. Sure, I can't even imagine of going into venues because many have a "No Lalas" rule, but at least I'm glad I dodged the bullet of picking any of the other two.
But hey, what do I know, players like these one or the ones that constantly infantilize us know better... after all we don't see lalafell fighting in battlefields, leading armies, entire nations or being ruthless mercantilists. Eorzea, what a world, where even toddlers can be in charge, and still be unable to walk into a nightclub... and that is somehow the fault of the lalafells /s

TL;DR: The chair it's a tasteless joke... and considering that very dumb things can make me laugh should be telling. Rethink the name/description of this item, and if you want to add lalafell sized furniture, follow the example of the humble lalafellin stepping stool.

And yeah, I don't really care about the canon of certain miqote chars either.. it ain't me and I'm not a catgirl IRL so it literally couldn't mean any less to me. Well the premise is also that players rather have our race be deleted or killed, although that's a joke I am sure. The infantilization is just something players should be against, because claiming we're children? becomes a problem like you said where every lore bit piece where Lala NPC's and characters are in charge of something? like a brothel or a big city like Ul'Dah, it just starts to not make sense.

Heck the story of Lamitt and Momodi Modi's love interests also becomes quite... disgusting then...

The logic to also make us fantasia makes no sense. Don't like being treated because of your appearance? just fantasia. Then the problem isn't the racial choice its the players that treat x players like such, to which players again claim doesn't happen - so its a constant contradiction. Players are angry at Lalafell players for existing... cause reasons? but aren't even blaming Square for creating Lalafells in the first place. That's the actual " Joke " about everything.

Imagine, if you would, someone being dumbfounded that their lalafell isn't being allowed into a bar venue. Not even one of a billion brothels, but a bar. Everyone there is going to end up with the mental picture of the little guy taking a swig. There are people out there who have chosen to play a toddler-adjacent character, and wanted to get their sippy on because they don't see the issue. There are also people out there that pick the toddler-adjacent character to go to the same bar with hopes of ERPing. Might even be with another toddler-adjacent character. How do you tell in advance which is which?

Lalas are definitely being mocked at most. And definitely the only one that are being mocked at within descriptions ingame. Just read any description for any popoto variety.

And i can easily catch myself mocking at lalas, just as i laughed at this chair.

But the problem is also the other way around. Lala only furniture would be discriminating towards all other races (of which some do suffer quite heavily from glam restrictions). And we already cant even reach all buildings in the game. Lalas have an advantage at this part because as mascotte, they will make sure everything works for them.

Yet its nowhere near as heavy as the lalafel mocking, since while the glam restrictions are anoying, they arent exclusive for a single race (and often still do feature some alternatives). Lalas however can be denied by players, which instead of passive discrimination by ingame limitations, is something that gets rubbed in by players. Which is a much heavier form of discrimination (and in some cases deserved, just like sometimes in real life it also is: a female toilet is still a female toilet)

What I can tell is that Lalafells are adults conically according to lore, they are an adult dwarf race and anything that makes Lalafells seem infantilize is just distasteful. And there in lies the problem.

I, as a lala myself, have no problem at all with the chair tbh.

Lalafell are small, obviously, and tables are made for tall races, obviously too. Makes sense that Lalas have something to actually sit comfortable on a table. You know on normal chairs and tables your head is just poking over the edge...how does anyone expect to eat comfortably like that? I get cramps in my arm from just thinking about it.

So was it meant as a joke? Yes, most probably. Is it logical for a lala to have a chair that allows you to actually sit properly at a table? Yes, most probably too. If they should remove anything then it is this ugly candyhouse that is a eyesore for every race equally.

I rather want to point out the outrageous inequality here, SE ignores the needs of the tall races especially roegadyn who still have to worry about getting impaled by stools or breaking these normal weak chairs. I vote for SE implementing a chair that is just a giant rock. So roegadyn can finally sit right too!

The answer to the question I posed is that you don't. What I raised there is an issue of player behavior. Lalafell players will quote lore, as you're doing, when defending the pursuit of explicit ERP. This is why they are banned from many venues. It is safer not to engage on any level than to try and pick and choose between good beans and bad apples and get it wrong, because someone WILL get it wrong. Do I find it problematic that square depicts toddlers in bunnysuits? Yes. Do I think it was a mistake to make lalafell? Also yes. They have done something very, very iffy by depicting toddler-esque characters in adult situations. The Hole, at first glance, could have been passable as edgy writing. Really cements the villains as villains there. What disgusts me in ways I cannot excuse is that there is a little girl that we don't know the age of that sure LOOKS like a toddler crying about how she's being treated. We are made to assume that all characters in suggestive situations are of age. The fact that the writers are presenting as such is one thing. It's another thing entirely to apply this blanket statement to player behavior. Lalafell PLAYERS are not given that get out of jail free card. Some of them absolutely should be jailed.

But this isn't about venues. This thread is about a chair, the latest in a series of things lalafell players cry about. Give me a break. You're not persecuted.
